Julian “JuJu” Lewis Commits to Colorado

Julian Lewis

Julian “JuJu” Lewis announced he will play for the Colorado Buffaloes starting next season. Lewis just made his decision on ESPN’s Pat McAfee’s show. The talented 5-star quarterback prospect from Carrolton, Georgia, recently de-committed from USC and reopened his recruitment. He committed to USC over a year ago. The Trojans’ recent poor play and questions about Lincoln Riley’s future with the program were likely major factors in his decision.

Five Star Prospect

Many consider Lewis one of the best quarterback prospects in recent memory. Julian is the second-ranked recruit on ESPN’s 2025 college prospect rankings. The Georgia Bulldogs have been in hot pursuit of the quarterback and remained in steady contact with him throughout his recruiting process. Lewis visited Athens for Georgia’s game versus Tennessee just a day before his separation from USC. Colorado, Georgia, and Indiana were considered finalists for his talent.

Lewis told ESPN. “I’m excited for the opportunity to get to work and compete. Colorado wasn’t recruiting me until I reclassed, so it really was perfect timing. This is only the beginning. I trust Coach Prime and [offensive coordinator Pat] Shurmur to help me become the player that I want to be.”

The commitment of the coveted quarterback was a remarkable achievement for Colorado, and the Buffaloes now have a quarterback for the future signed in the waning days of coach Deion Sanders’ second season leading the program. Lewis had been closely linked to Colorado since his official visit to the program in June, and the interest continued through the fall. This included Lewis’ trip to Colorado for the Buffaloes’ 34-23 win over Cincinnati on Oct. 26.
