Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul Fight: Still Happening in 2024?

Mike Tyson

Prepare for a fight like no other as Mike Tyson and Jake Paul enter the ring, marking a series of unprecedented events. This is the first time these two contrasting fighters will meet, and it’s also the first time Netflix has hosted such an unconventional boxing event.

In a surprising twist, it’s the first time Mike Tyson has required medical attention while on board a flight, adding to the uncertainty of this fight. The big question is whether this unique fight will even occur.

Mike Tyson, 57, and Jake Paul, 27, are scheduled to fight in an exhibition boxing match at the AT&T Stadium on July 20th in Arlington, Texas. Netflix will stream this fight nationwide. This bout will balance youth and vitality against experience and skill.

The fight will consist of eight two-minute rounds, with each combatant wearing slightly larger, heavier gloves than normal. Paul’s boxing record is 9-1, with six knockouts. Jake started his boxing career as a YouTuber boxer and on other social media platforms before he graduated as a UFC fighter.

Tyson has a record of 50-6-2, with 44 knockouts. He has not boxed publicly for the last four years. His last fight was an exhibition bout against the legendary Roy Jones Jr., which ended in a draw. One must ask this question, though: Will his fight against Paul even take place now?

The undisputed heavyweight champion Mike Tyson was on board a flight Sunday evening from Miami heading toward Los Angeles when he required medical attention. While on the flight, a message was issued on the Tannoy system asking for a doctor on board.

Tyson suffered an ulcer flare-up after being dizzy just 30 minutes before the plane was to land. The boxer’s spokesperson reported he was doing great and feeling well. The flight he was on was delayed due to a nonrelated incident.

An eyewitness on the flight said, “Mike had some kind of medical emergency on the plane, and paramedics boarded. Before the paramedics arrived, the flight issued an announcement asking for a doctor — the message even came to everyone’s screens.”

The eyewitness continued, “There was a lot of buzz when he left the Admirals Club and got to the gate. A lot of fans recognized him, and a few people got pictures. He was very accommodating, and then he was escorted away from the gate because the flight was delayed because the gate person said that the plane was too hot because it had been sitting all day and had to cool down.”

Final Thoughts

To conclude, the eyewitness stated, “He was in first class, but we were in an exit row and the stewardess was very chatty. They asked us to stay on the plane and landed so paramedics could enter. She said something like, ‘He’s a really important passenger, so we want to make sure he’s OK.’ I knew it was him, but I just mouthed the words ‘Mike Tyson,’ and she nodded her head yes.”

Again, an ulcer flare-up occurs when there is an imbalance in the digestive tract between stomach juices and the small intestine. Basically, it’s a sore on the lining of the stomach or small intestine that causes stomach pain, bloating, dizziness, and fast-feeling fullness.

No matter what happens, the mere question of a professional fighter’s health a few weeks before the fight isn’t good, no matter how insignificant. Will this new development be enough to cancel the exhibition fight between Tyson and Paul?
