Netflix Releases Incredible Christmas Day Slate For 2024 Season

Netflix is getting into business with the National Football League in 2024.

The streaming giant Netflix is making its first foray into broadcasting NFL games during the 2024 season. It was announced earlier today that Netflix and the National Football League agreed to terms for the steaming service to broadcast Christmas Day NFL games for the next three seasons(2024-26). The two games on Christmas Day this season are the Baltimore Ravens visiting the Houston Texans and the Kansas City Chiefs visiting the Pittsburgh Steelers.

How will these two games unfold on Netflix?

Netflix Gets A Rematch Of 2023 NFL Playoffs

The Baltimore Ravens destroyed the Houston Texans 34-10 in the NFL Divisional Round back in January. Baltimore also shellacked the Texans in week 1 of the 2023 NFL season, 25-9. Texans Quarterback C.J. Stroud struggled against the vaunted Ravens defense as the two worst games of his standout rookie season came against the Ravens. Stroud has no passing touchdowns in either of his games against Baltimore.

While the Ravens defense dominated the Texans offense, 2023 NFL MVP Quarterback Lamar Jackson had trouble cracking the Houston defense. He only had two total touchdowns last season against Houston. Whatever happens for these teams before they meet on Christmas Day, the Houston Texans will look to exact revenge on the Ravens.

The Kanas City Chiefs are no strangers to playing on Christmas Day as they hosted the Las Vegas Raiders on Christmas in 2023. It makes sense that during Netflix’s first season broadcasting NFL games, they would want to feature star Quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the reigning champions. Kansas City had a 2023 Christmas they would like to forget as they lost 20-14 to the Raiders. Mahomes and the Chiefs offense struggled, but that game seemingly gave Kansas City exactly what they needed.

Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid spoke before Super Bowl LVIII how last year’s Christmas Day loss provided the team with exactly what they needed:

“That emotion was the thing that jumped out at you – that they played with – I think it gave our guys a nice little – for (lack of) a better term, a wakeup call that, ‘Listen, we need to step things up here. Things aren’t just going to fall in our lap.’ We’re taking everyone’s best shot; here’s a team that went through some adversity, and they stepped up and were able to present themselves as they did. We were able to learn from it and move on.”

Kansas City would go 6-0 following their loss on Christmas Day.

Kansas City last faced the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2021 AFC Wild Card Round. Kansas City dominated and won 42-21. Mahomes tied his playoff career-high with five passing touchdowns. The new-look Steelers will look to ensure the champions do not come into their house and utterly dominate them like they did three seasons ago.
