In the new ICC Men’s ODI Rankings issued last week, three Indian players have retained their ranking even in a tough series. Top-ranked Indian captain Rohit Sharma raises his place in the batters’ rankings from fourth to second place, Shubman Gill, on the other hand, falls one place to third place. Virat Kohli does not budge from the fourth place, and in fact, extends his momentum.
Rohit Sharma Leads Indian Batting Charge
The Indian team just concluded a three-match ODI series, and ended on the losing side, beaten 2-1 by Sri Lanka. Still, Rohit Sharma stood out from the rest and scored 157 with a very healthy strike rate of 52. 33. His innings of 58, 64, and 35 were useful for the Indian side in that side of the tournament. Among the Indian bowlers, the highest gainer in the latest rankings is Washington Sundar who has claimed five wickets in three Sri Lanka ODIs and is ranked 87th, a jump of 10 places.
Team India Tops ODI Team Rankings
As far as the teams are concerned, India is on the top of the ODI rankings having 118 points. Australia is close behind, as the second one with 116 points of the rating points, while the third place belongs to South Africa, with 112 points. The Strange Loss to Sri Lanka in the Series Closely also looks like India physics the solid existence and absolute dominance in the ODI Arena.
The new rankings also prove the Indian cricketers’ endurance and skill, as well as their capacity to provide consistent performance despite difficulties.
