The Houston Texans had one of the best seasons in franchise history in 2023. They have their long-term answer at quarterback and are now looking to build around him. It is expected that the team will be players in the free agency market as they try to maximize the greatest advantage in sports, the rookie contract quarterback. They nailed the draft in 2023. The Houston Texans hope to do the same in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Houston Texans 2024 Draft Picks
The Houston Texans have eight draft picks in the 2024 NFL Draft.
- Round 1: #23 (via Cleveland)
- Round 2: #59
- Round 3: #86 (via Philadelphia)
- Round 4: #124
- Round 4: #128 (via Cleveland)
- Round 7: #236
- Round 7: #245
- Round 7: #250
The Houston Texans made one of the most shocking trades in last year’s draft, sending their own first-round pick to the Cardinals. Many panned the trade as the Texans were not predicted to be very good. The good news is the Texans still have a first-round pick, thanks to the Deshaun Watson trade. They pick up an additional fourth-round pick from that trade as well.

Mock Draft Analysis
The Houston Texans get a potential steal in Latu. For those who do not know, Latu was medically retired due to a neck injury. While his tape is amazing, many teams will have him off the board entirely because of his medicals. Because of this, I see him falling to a team like the Texans. Teams in the late first round will take a swing, and if he doesn’t pan out, it isn’t as huge of a deal.
The most interesting pick is Malachi Corley out of Western Kentucky. Admittedly, I didn’t watch many Western Kentucky games this season, but Corley’s highlights are something special. He reminds me a lot of Deebo Samuel. He would fit in nicely with Tank Dell and Nico Collings. Additionally, the Houston Texans need to find a running game to support C.J. Stroud. Getting Irving out of Oregon is a great mid-round pickup.
The Houston Texans found their franchise quarterback. Now, they have the weight of expectations coming into 2024. The good news is they have a great coach and a great quarterback. From there, everything usually falls into place.
