Rory McIlroy Has Gone Back-to-Back At the Masters; Who Else Has Accomplished This Feat?

Augusta National Golf Club chairman Fred Ridley places the green jacket on Rory McIlroy during the green jacket ceremony after the final round of the Masters Tournament.

Rory McIlroy joined one of the most exclusive clubs in golf this evening at Augusta National Golf Club. He went back-to-back at the Masters. Who else is a member of this ultra-exclusive club?

Going Back-to-Back At the Masters

Winning the Masters one time will etch your name in the annals of golf history. Winning a Green Jacket in back-to-back years is something entirely different. With his second consecutive triumph at Augusta National, McIlroy become only the fourth man in the illustrious history of the Masters to win the tournament in back-to-back years.

McIlroy now fins himself alongside three titans of the sport. Nick Faldo(1989-1990), Jack Nicklaus(1965-1966), and Tiger Woods(2001-2002) are the only other players to go back-to-back at the Masters. After so many years of heartbreak at this historic tournament, he is the unquestioned king of Augusta, Georgia.

When Will McIlroy Tee It Up Again?

Following another Masters win, McIlroy will not be teeing it up next week at the RBC Heritage on Hilton Head Island. That is the same schedule he followed after his 2025 win. McIlroy withdrew earlier this week before this weekend’s festivities. It remains unclear when we will see him next, but following a historic four days, that all seems trivial. McIlroy is sitting atop the mountaintop once more, and will be looking to add to his trophy case whenever he tees it up again.
