Freddie Freeman Continues Spectacular World Series Performance

Freddie Freeman made history in last night's World Series win.

Los Angeles Dodgers First Baseman Freddie Freeman continues to dazzle in the World Series. With a two-run home run in the top of the first inning of last night’s game on the road at Yankee Stadium, Freeman rewrote the Major League Baseball record books. It was Freddie Freeman’s third straight World Series game with a home run. He joined Barry Bonds(2002) and Hank Bauer(1958) as the only other players to homer in the first three games of a World Series.

It was also his fifth consecutive World Series game with a home run and Freeman is now second all-time with five home runs in his first nine World Series games behind George Springer of the Houston Astros. Freddie Freeman’s home run streak dates back to Games 5 and 6 of the 2021 World Series when Freeman was a member of the Atlanta Braves and the team was facing the Houston Astros in the “Fall Classic.” The former MVP signed with the Los Angeles before the start of the 2022 regular season. Will Freddie Freeman be able to hit a home run tonight in Game 4?

Freddie Freeman Powers Dodgers To Commanding Series Lead

There are a multitude of reasons why the Los Angeles Dodgers hold a 3-0 series over the New York Yankees in the World Series, but Freeman has been one of the biggest reasons. Freeman is a huge favorite to be named the 2024 World Series Most Valuable Player. He is 4-of-12 in the World Series with three home runs and seven RBI.

Freddie Freeman has driven in as many runs in the World Series as the New York Yankees have scored(7). Yankee Stadium was chomping at the bit last night as they hoped to cheer their hometown team to victory. Freeman’s home run in the first inning seemingly took the air out of both the building and the Yankee team.

Freeman’s home run in Game 1 was a walk-off grand slam. It was the first time in World Series history there had been a walk-off grand slam. With that being his only marquee hit of the World Series, Freddie Freeman would have still been a big favorite to win World Series MVP. Instead, Freeman has continued to swing a hot bat. Freeman also hit a solo home run in Game 2 to help extend LA’s lead in that game.

Final Thoughts

Freddie Freeman’s great performance has the Los Angeles Dodgers on the brink of their first World Series title since 2020. It would also add to what is a surefire Hall of Fame career. If Freeman can win World Series MVP he would add that to his trophy case to go along with being an eight-time MLB All-Star, three Silver Slugger Awards, and a Gold Glove. Freeman is one of the best players of his generation and a historic World Series will send him shooting up the all-time ranks. Only one game stands between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the 2024 World Series as Freddie Freeman looks to continue making history.
