Former Texas Longhorns Players Racked Up $410K Of Fines In NBA

Texas Longhorns

Former Texas Longhorns men’s basketball players have racked up $410,000 of fines in the NBA and rank sixth among men’s basketball teams producing the baddest-behaved NBA players. University of Texas alumni Kevin Durant and PJ Tucker were found to be the biggest offenders with both players racking up a combined total of $310,000 worth of NBA fines.

The Houston Cougars, Texas Tech Red Raiders, and SMU Mustangs were found to produce some of the best-behaved players in the NBA. “March Madness” is around the corner, and FlashPicks’ new study has revealed the men’s basketball teams with the worst-behaved players in the NBA. It’s bad news for the Texas Longhorns. Please read all about it below.

Texas Longhorns’ Fines In NBA

The former Texas Longhorns men’s basketball players racking up fines in the NBA has been a red-hot topic. FlashPicks, a betting picks, parlays, predictions, and news brand, revealed in its new study that former Longhorns players went on to amass a hefty $410,000 worth of NBA fines since 2014. The University of Texas alumni also received the eighth-most suspensions at 31, and the fourth-most ejections at 24.

The Longhorns owe more than half of their poor discipline to Durant. Durant has racked up $210,000 in fines and has been ejected 10 times in the last decade. Tucker has paid a hefty $100,000 and has been ejected nine times. However, University of Texas alumni aren’t No. 1, as the University of Kentucky tops the list with $850,000 in fines, 49 suspensions, and 61 ejections.

Big Bad Texas Longhorns

The Texas Longhorns men’s basketball program ranks sixth for men’s basketball programs producing the biggest, baddest NBA players. FlashPicks analyzed the total fines, suspensions, and ejections handed out to NBA players from March 2014 to February 2025. They cross-referenced each offense to the college the player attended to reveal the teams that produce the worst-behaved NBA players.

Callum Broxton, Head of Operations at FlashPicks, said, “The findings reveal a fascinating link between NBA players and the college they attended in terms of the frequency of fines, suspensions, and ejections. While talent and competitiveness are key factors, it’s clear that some colleges have produced players who push the limits more than others.”

Final Thoughts

The Texas Longhorns men’s basketball program has had a mixed 2025 NCAA season. The Longhorns had a 17-14 overall record and a 6-12 record in conference play entering Wednesday’s game in the SEC Tournament. The Longhorns’ performance in the SEC Tournament might determine the program’s future, including Head Coach Rodney Terry’s tenure. Terry was named head coach on March 27, 2023.

The No. 13 Longhorns will face the No. 12 Vanderbilt Commodores at Bridgestone Arena on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. Central. The Longhorns vs. Commodores first-round matchup should be an interesting rematch. Vanderbilt hasn’t won the SEC Tournament since 2012 when they defeated Anthony Davis and the No. 1 Kentucky Wildcats. The Wildcats went on to win the NCAA Tournament.
