Samoa Joe Suffers Surprising Injury Filming Twisted Metal
Samoa Joe is one of many fans’ favorite professional wrestlers, especially given his great performances in his prime at both TNA and WWE. Currently, he is a part of AEW/ROH, and he has shown that, despite being 46 years old, he has plenty left in the tank. His influence extends beyond the ring, too, into the film industry. However, in doing that work recently, he has some bad news.
What TV Series Is Samoa Joe Involved In
Samoa Joe got his foot in the door via the movie industry and has worked on the set for the Twisted Metal TV series. Twisted Metal is more of a post-apocalyptic action comedy type of TV series. It is a very entertaining TV series, and Joe is involved in this series. He plays the role of Marcus “Needles” Kane, aka Sweet Tooth, and mostly does the physical action work. The voicework is done by fellow actor Will Arnett, and it is a perfect role for both people. Joe has the scary look, and Arnett has the perfect voice for the Sweet Tooth character.
This TV Series is why AEW wrote him off at AEW All In Texas. The company gave Joe time to film, and it’s a win for both of them. AEW gets some advertisement with one of their talents getting involved, and Joe can participate in a movie to get exposure and more money.
Where the Bad News Comes In
Unfortunately, in filming a movie and doing the physical work Joe does, there is a chance that Samoa Joe could get injured. Well, that day has come, as it was announced that he suffered an injury. This is a pretty serious one, too, as the man himself admitted that he fractured his ankle during a driving stunt that went wrong. Here is how tough Samoa Joe is, though. He filmed a large chunk of the Season 2 series with that ankle injury. He taped it up, was limping all over the set, but he completed his work filming. That shows dedication and passion towards this project, which is super cool.
Final Thoughts
It sucks that Joe got hurt because that means his return to AEW is going to be pushed a bit. Which means Tony Khan will have to pivot on the planned story he was building with Joe and the Deathriders’ feud. When Samoa Joe is healed up, though, it will be great to have him back.
