Mike Perry Questions Jake Paul’s Focus As Nate Diaz Fight Looms

Mike Perry has responded after Jake Paul suggested that Nate Diaz could move on to a potential MMA fight with him, depending on how events unfold after May 16. Perry, who will take on Diaz in one of the featured bouts on the next Rousey vs. Carano card in Los Angeles. He responded to Paul’s remarks and made it very clear that his attention remains locked on the challenge ahead. 

The stream-only event on Netflix has attracted a lot of attention because of the star names that are involved. Both Perry and Diaz are set to face off in a bout that has drawn significant attention across the combat sports community, with Jake Paul’s comments adding further intrigue to the buildup. 

Both are boxing rivals, with Paul having previously beaten Diaz in August 2023 and Perry, who predicted that Diaz would tap out Perry early, before possibly focusing his efforts on an MMA fight with him. That suggestion did not go unnoticed by Perry.

Perry Focused On Diaz But Open To Bigger Conversations 

Perry responded to Paul’s remarks and simultaneously stressed that he is focused on the next fight with Diaz. He even admitted that he had heard about Paul’s prophecy and replied that he was confident in his training and attitude in the fight.

Mike Perry said that he realized Jake Paul thought that Nate Diaz would win the fight. He said that the situation would be resolved on May 16 and that he has been training at a very high level. He has been working day in and day out to prepare and to reach his peak. Perry went on to state that a fight has several possible outcomes, depending on the course of events.

“Well, I guess I was mentioned in the conversation, I hadn’t heard that he doesn’t think that I’m going to win the fight,” Perry told MMA Fighting. “Well, on May 16, we’re going to find out. I’m training really sharp, really hard. I’m killing it every single day. I’m feeling great. I’m doing all the things I need to do to make sure my body is at the peak of my abilities and, yeah… There are paths for options,” he said.

He also referenced discussions involving  UFC President Dana White, stating that future opportunities would become clearer once the fight is over. Mike mentioned that other fighters have successfully returned to the UFC and that various career paths may become available based on performance.

He also mentioned a potential high-profile MMA fight with Jake Paul, asking what weight he would fight him at, and said it would be between 185 and 200. Perry made it very clear that mixed martial arts is a lot different from boxing.

He said that what happened when they fought in the boxing ring will not be the same as what happens when they fight under martial arts rules. Perry said he knows people are talking, but he is only thinking about the upcoming fight and the people he will be fighting.

Respect Between Perry and Diaz Ahead Of The Bout

Even though people are excited for the fight, Mike Perry and Nate Diaz have been very respectful to each other. They both talked on stage at a press conference in New York City. They were nice to each other the whole time. Diaz has said good things about Perry and considers him tough.
