John Cena Makes History with 17th Championship at Wrestlemania 41
John Cena has made waves with his retirement coming at the end of the season, but after turning heel he was able to find his way in the main event of Wrestlemania against Cody Rhodes for the WWE Championship. The match saw referee bumps, Travis Scott interfere, a low blow, and a hit with the title for John Cena to win his 17th world title, breaking the tie with WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair. This match did not see The Rock make an appearance but let’s discuss what happened.
John Cena Wins WWE Championship at Wrestlemania 41

The match between Cody Rhodes and John Cena was largely forgettable and that is a shame, but all that matters is what happened towards the end of the match. With the referee down for a second time in the match, Travis Scott made his way down the Wrestlemania ramp and into the ring with Rhodes. After going for a slap, Rhodes blocked it and hit a Cross Rhodes on the rapper. Cena, however, was able to grab the WWE Title and went to hit Rhodes with it, but Rhodes was able to block it and the two tusselled over the belt.
Rhodes would win the exchange as Cena would beg for mercy. With Rhodes conflicted, he wound up hesitating and Cena hit a low blow on Rhodes and then would hit him with the title belt before the referee made his way back into the ring and counted the three. There was no appearance by The Rock or Seth Rollins/Paul Heyman that was heavily speculated after how the show ended last night.
What is next for John Cena? Well, he will be appearing on “The Pat McAfee Show” and that will be interesting. Cody Rhodes now faces another obstacle and this could lead to a rematch at WWE Backlash with a stipulation attached, like a steel cage. There is also the possibility that Cena does not wrestle on the show and instead we get Cody Rhodes vs. Travis Scott. The ending fell flat but Cena did break the record and put the end on an interesting Wrestlemania 41.
