El Grande Americano defeats Rey Fenix at Wrestlemania 41 Night 1
Rey Fenix and El Grande Americano had a fun match between two luchadors at Wrestlemania 41 Night 1, but ultimately El Grande Americano was able to win the match in his Wrestlemania debut. The match was a lot of fun and saw some shenanigans throughout the match, including AAA’s Vikingo hitting him with a kick and Grande Americano putting a metal pipe in his mask, which led to the victory with a headbutt. Let’s take a deeper dive into what this means for both wrestlers going forward.
El Grande Americano Defeats Rey Fenix

El Grande Americano was able to highlight his ability to dominate the match over Rey Fenix, who was a last-minute substitute for Rey Mysterio as he was unable to be medically cleared for the match. The match was a lot of fun and seeing Triple A’s Vikingo get involved with the match should be a clear indication of what this means next as WWE purchased the Lucha Libre company. This match was a lot of fun and was quick as it took about eight minutes from bell to bell.
Vikingo vs. Chad Gable (El Grande Americano) will ultimately be a fun match and that could happen as early as WWE Worlds Collide, which is in partnership with AAA. In terms of what is next for Rey Fenix, this loss will not hurt his momentum as he looked solid on the biggest stage that he has wrestled throughout his young WWE career. There is a lot that could be happening as Americano was not unmasked throughout the match and could continue the story to a potential midcard championship match in the not-so-distant future.
The match delivered and was able to tell the story that Gable was able to cheat to win with the pipe and made Fenix look strong in defeat, the first singles loss of his WWE career.
