ECW Legend Will Have Final Match of Career During Wrestlemania 42 Weekend
Sandman is one of the biggest legends in the history of Extreme Championship Wrestling. He has been a legendary figure as the five-time ECW World Heavyweight Champion, who is still wrestling at 62 years old. However, he has officially announced his retirement match. Let’s take a closer look at the details surrounding.
ECW Legend Sandman Announces Retirement Match

Sandman has been one of the key figures from ECW and has been a champion throughout the world. He has also been one of the most impressive wrestlers, having wrestled at least one match every year since 1989, wrestling a few matches every year for the last few years. It was announced that The Sandman will be wrestling one final time during Wrestlemania 42 weekend.
While there has not been an opponent announced as of this writing, Sandman will be wrapping up his career at Joey Janela’s Spring Break on Friday, April 17, at the Horseshoe Las Vegas. This is not the first time there will be an ECW legend wrestling at this show, as last year, Sabu wrestled a few weeks before passing away. Sandman would actually make an appearance at that match during Spring Break IX. His last match was in October 2025 at GHW Halloween.
This gives fans a chance to see the ECW legend wrestle one last time the night before Wrestlemania 42 Night 1. It will be intriguing to see who he will share the ring with for his final match and what it will look like. Sandman has not wrestled often lately, only wrestling 15 matches since the beginning of 2020, and six of them were singles matches.
Sandman was not known for his grappling abilities, but more for the ability to brawl. He has not wrestled a five-minute singles match since 2018, so there is a chance this will be a multi-man match. However, this match will look, it will be nice to honor an ECW legend like Sandman with one final chance to see him in a wrestling ring.
