Ben Whittaker Scores First-Round Knockout and Eyes Major Fights

Ben Whittaker wins.

On Saturday night, Ben Whittaker scored another statement victory by knocking out Braian Suarez in the first round to keep the momentum of his rise in the light heavyweight division.

Whittaker had just been shifted to the main event in Liverpool after Callum Smith pulled out of his planned WBO interim light heavyweight championship match with David Morrell due to injury. With the stage in the limelight, Whittaker took advantage of the situation with an overwhelming and vibrant performance.

Fast Finish Extends Unbeaten Record

The British contender wasted little time asserting control, starting sharply before landing a crushing right hand that floored the Argentine fighter with just over 40 seconds remaining in the first round.

The emphatic stoppage improved Whittaker’s unbeaten professional record to 11-0-1. It also marked his second consecutive first-round knockout after his November win over Benjamin Gavazi. With each performance, Whittaker continues to build momentum as one of Britain’s most talked-about young boxing talents.

Whittaker Sends Message To Division

Speaking after the fight, Whittaker made it clear that he welcomes the growing attention from rivals in the division. He stated that opponents continue to call him out for a reason, adding that every appearance in the ring gives him more experience and greater comfort. According to Whittaker, the more settled he becomes at this level, the more dangerous he will be for anyone in the division.

The next phase of the career was also described by Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn, who confirmed that the undefeated star would make his United States debut in June. According to Hearn, the team is well-planned, and it thinks that Whittaker should be on the largest stages. He confirmed that Whittaker will compete on June 27 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, on a card headlined by Jaron Ennis and Xander Zayas.

Hearn further opined that Whittaker would come back and fight in Birmingham with another major headline fight, which could be a major domestic fight or even a final eliminator to world title contention.

World Title Ambitions For 2027

Hearn also outlined long-term ambitions for the talented prospect, suggesting that by 2027, he could be ready to challenge any top fighter at 175 pounds. The promoter praised Whittaker’s combination of charisma, talent, and star power, describing him as a rare talent capable of becoming both a major attraction and a legitimate world champion contender.

With another emphatic knockout victory, a U.S. debut now confirmed, and major domestic fights on the horizon, Ben Whittaker’s rise continues to gather steam. If his recent performances are any indication, the light heavyweight division may soon have another serious contender to deal with.

World-Level Expectations Growing

The promoter was confident that by 2027, Whittaker would be ready to face any light heavyweight in the world. Hearn has said that he was a rare talent with superstar potential and capable of beating the best in the division. Another knockout added to his resume, and anticipation surrounding Whittaker’s future is soaring.

Bigger Tests Await

With another explosive victory added to his record and plans already in place for his American debut, Ben’s rise continues to gather momentum. The unbeaten contender is steadily building experience, confidence, and growing attention within the light heavyweight division. If he continues producing high-level performance, big opportunities and major fights may arrive sooner rather than later.
