Ashante Adonis Reveals His WWE Contract Has Expired
WWE has become the land of departures over the past few years, whether via firing or contract expiration. It was just revealed that Karrion Kross and Scarlett’s contracts expired today. Both have had their profiles moved to the Alumni section on the company’s website. Turns out there aren’t the only ones to get that bad news. It was also announced that WWE superstar Ashante “Thee” Adonis is departing WWE.
How This News Got Revealed
It was revealed by the man himself on his personal social media account. He mostly said kind words about the company, thanking everyone for his time there. It sounds like his pro wrestling career is far from over, but no matter what, he is leaving WWE. It was later confirmed by Sean Ross Sapp that his departure is due to his contract expiring.
This Should Not Be a Surprise
When looking at his second tenure with WWE, this shouldn’t come as a surprise. The Hit Row faction just did not work without Swerve Strickland. Adonis was done in WWE the moment Top Dolla, aka AJ Francis, was released. That killed Hit Row for good. Adonis would be in a tag team with Cedric Alexander, which had potential. However, it never went anywhere, and both got sent down to NXT and quietly disbanded.
He was in a bizarre love storyline in NXT with Karmen Petrovic and Nikkita Lyons. That arc was continuously awful. The story was over when Petrovic attacked, and Kayfabe broke up with Adonis. It just wasn’t working for him in WWE with how he was used.
The Best Landing Spot For Him
Pro wrestling is very hot right now, and Adonis has plenty of options. The independent scene has been on fire with Shotzi and Matt Cardona’s popularity. However, he would be perfect in TNA. Especially in the First Class faction with AJ Francis and Rich Swann. After all, Adonis was with Francis in the Hit Row faction in WWE. Their chemistry is great, and his being included in that faction would be perfect.
No matter where he goes in wrestling, hopefully, he succeeds. Adonis has talent, and it’s a shame that it did not work out again in WWE. Maybe with a change of scenery and better booking, he will shine in the business. Total Apex Sports will keep you up to date regarding wrestling news, moments, promotions, and controversy.
