5 Match Predictions for Wrestlemania 42 after WWE Royal Rumble
Following the WWE Royal Rumble 2026, we are officially on the Road to Wrestlemania. We know some of the directions wrestlers are going to, but nothing exactly in terms of what matches will be taking place. Now that we get a sense of what directions things can go, let’s take a deeper dive into five match predictions for Wrestlemania 42.
5 Match Predictions for Wrestlemania 42 After WWE Royal Rumble
Roman Reigns vs. CM Punk
Will the Zebros challenge each other at Wrestlemania 42? It feels like this will be the direction things are going. Reigns won the Royal Rumble match, and Punk is the World Heavyweight Champion, so this seems to be the obvious decision. It feels like the bigger match Reigns can have, and there is no other clear direction for Punk at Wrestlemania right now.
Drew McIntyre vs. Cody Rhodes vs. Jacob Fatu
The WWE Championship has been intriguing as Drew McIntyre was able to retain against Sami Zayn at the Royal Rumble. McIntyre would also interfere in the match itself with a Claymore kick to Cody Rhodes. It feels like McIntyre getting involved at Saturday Night’s Main Event in Rhodes and Jacob Fatu’s brawl was planting the seeds for this. A triple threat match could be the closing match for Night 1 of Wrestlemania as well.
Gunther vs. Randy Orton
The story of Gunther retiring wrestlers should have one of the biggest legends on the grandest stage. The Legend Killer would be a great target for Gunther and it is also a bit of a chance for a third-time match. These two wrestled at WWE Bash at Berlin and the King of the Ring Finals in 2024, so going back to this would be intriguing.
Seth Rollins vs. Bron Breakker
Bron Breakker took out Seth Rollins on WWE television as he and Bronson Reed turned on Rollins a few months ago. Rollins has not been seen in WWE since, but during Breakker’s entrance for the Royal Rumble match, a hooded figure attacked him and did the curb stomp. It feels like this could be what the creative team is targeting, but it also depends on if Rollins is healthy enough to return to the ring in time for a match.
Oba Femi vs. Brock Lesnar
This one seems like it should be written in pen, right? Oba Femi was eliminated by Brock Lesnar during the Royal Rumble match and that is how some Wrestlemania matches are created. Femi has not officially debuted on the main roster for a brand and looked strong during the match. This could be a passing of the torch of being the monster of WWE, similar to what people believed the Lesnar vs. Omos Wrestlemania match could have been.
