Eden Hazard the former Real Madrid, Chelsea and Belgium player has backed Cesc Fabregas to be appointed as the next head coach for Chelsea despite his inexperience as a first team manager.
Eden Hazard playfully suggests Cesc Fabregas as the next head coach to take over Pochettino after branding the former manager exit as “sad”.
Eden Hazard on Chelsea Coaching Transition
With Pochettino’s exit from the club following a mutual consent last Tuesday, The Blues had commenced their search for a new head coach. The club has been roundly criticized for allowing the Argentine to leave after striving to land them to the sixth position in the English Premier League.
Hazard expressed his discontent, revealing he’s disappointed with Pochettino exit from the Stamford Bridge last week and believed the former manager did a great job during his 10 months being in charge, including reaching the FA Cup semi finals and Carabo Cup final.
“I was a bit sad to be fair,” said Hazard to talkSPORT when asked about his reaction to Pochettino’s exit. “I think he did a great job
“I know people want Chelsea to be in the top four but it’s just a season of transition. He’s a great manager, I wish him good luck. Let’s see who’s going to be there in the future.”
Chelsea Managerial Change
The Blues have compiled a list of potential successors, with Roberto De Zerbi amongst them. He is favored to secure the position of head coach for the team, including other managers like Ipswich Town’s Kieran McKenna, Leicester’s Enzo Maresca, and Brentford’s Thomas Frank, also under consideration.
Eden Hazard, attending a charity match, was questioned about De Zerbi potentially leading Chelsea. He stayed neutral before playfully suggesting that Como’s current coach, Cesc Fabregas, could take on the job. On De Zerbi, he said: “Maybe. I also have my friend in Como [Fabregas]. He can be the first manager [winks].”
Cesc Fabregas is the assistant manager to Osian Roberts at Como, who has just earned promotion, leveling up to Serie A after a 21-year absence. The Spaniard was caretaker boss from November until December after the dismissal of Moreno Longo, taking them from seventh to third with great performance in Serie B.
Fabregas played at Chelsea alongside Hazard for five years between 2014 and 2019, winning two Premier League titles in 2015 and 2017. They also grasped hands on the 2015 League Cup, 2018 FA Cup and 2019 Europa League.
