Deion Sanders is heading into his second season with the Colorado Buffaloes. After a great start to 2023, the ending was not up to expectations. Deion Sanders and Colorado held a record of 4-8 as they could not get over the hump of losing games. Fans of college football know what the Buffaloes coach has been known for.
He develops talent and wins games, just like he did at Jackson State, though it was not a household name in the NCAA. On Tuesday, his son and quarterback Shedeur Sanders took to Twitter when asked about a former teammate last season. The conversation later took a turn as X users decided to chime in on what the Colorado QB spoke about.

Xavier Smith played for the Buffaloes and Deion Sanders in 2023. According to Shedeur Sanders, he does not remember Smith being on the field as he called him “mid” in a tweet on Tuesday. Worthy felt as though Deion Sanders did not give him a chance to prove himself. This came up after his former head coach advised him to hit the transfer portal in the spring.
Colorado head coach Deion Sanders is looking to rebuild his program after a lackluster season. Before he entered the facility in Boulder, Colorado he told each player who was not ready to come out and compete to leave and transfer. As this sentiment has continued, Sanders defended his son/quarterback stating that he will be a “top-5” pick in the NFL Draft.

The Buffaloes want to improve their win/loss total from a season ago. They are no longer in the Pac-12 conference as it came to an end last year. The competition will look different as they will be headed into the Big 12 with the likes of Arizona, Arizona State, and Utah among others in 2024.
Spring games have come to a close. While practice is still in full force, Deion Sanders will be watching to see who comes to play and find out who wants a starting spot on the upcoming roster. Many headlines have surfaced as to whether Deion Sanders can turn the team around in his second year with the Colorado football program.

Certainly, the head coach does not want to make his student-athletes uncomfortable. But, by the looks of it, some player’s confidence may have taken a loss. In the athlete’s minds, it could be that they do not feel wanted. So, in turn, they transfer and leave for other collegiate football programs.
Judging by the number of scholarship players that left (53), Deion Sanders is testing limits on how much his players can handle as the season gets closer in the fall. Former Colorado players have entered the portal in the last few weeks such as Cormani McClain.
Head coach Deion Sanders wants to win at all costs. Developing them and turning them into young men is the first step to that future winning success. Yes, Primetime received all of the spotlights after being hired to be the head man for the Colorado football team. This was due to the lack of enthusiasm and losses in previous seasons under different leadership.
Now, as Colorado brings on more staff to help the team, they are on a path to being in better shape for this season. One thing is for sure as the 2024 campaign is approaching. Despite, Shedeur Sanders having his father as his head coach, primetime Deion does have his player’s back.
Well, at least the ones that he feels will want to play and win football games on his program and field in September!
