Daniel Cormier Predicts Dricus Du Plessis Fight: ‘Double Champion’

Daniel Cormier Against Recent Changes

Daniel Cormier discussed the reigning champion, Dricus Du Plessis, who is going to fight Israel Adesanya in UFC 305. Dricus Du Plessis holds the middleweight Championship. Israel Adesanya is a tough opponent for the title holder. He has only lost three fights in his whole career and has won 24 fights in a total of 27 fights.

Israel Adesanya has a lot more professional experience than Dricus Du Plessis, so it’s going to be tough for the middleweight champion. But Dricus Du Plessis is the title holder and is not a fighter to be taken lightly, so it’s going to be tough for both champions. Daniel Cormier, on the other hand, revealed his thoughts about the great title holder as a commentator.

Scheduling fight for Dricus Du

Daniel Cormier: Scheduling fight for Dricus Du

Daniel Cormier recently shared his thoughts on current UFC middleweight champion Dricus Du Plessis’ goal to win titles in two different weight classes in the future. Dricus Du Plessis is going to face a very tough opponent with much more experience. So he is preparing to defend his title for the first time against former longtime champion Israel Adesanya in the main UFC 305 event this weekend at the RAC Arena in Perth, Western Australia.

Daniel Cormier: First of all, Dricus was supported in fighting Robert Whittaker, who is much older than him, but now he will fight Israel Adesanya at UFC 293. Robert is not going to fight in the Octagon because of a serious injury he had recently. However, he was stripped of the middleweight belt when he lost to Sean Strickland in a late-notice bout in September.

Defeat of Sean Strickland

Daniel Cormier: Dricus Du Plessis, a South African, similarly made an excellent return recently. He fought Sean Strickland, and to everyone’s shock, he went on to beat Strickland in a very close split decision to reclaim the middleweight crown at UFC 297. Now, UFC 305 is coming closer, and Du Plessis is confidently declaring his intent to defeat Adesanya and has already named his further plans.

Daniel Cormier: During an appearance with Sias Du Plessis on 12 May, “Stillknocks” laid out his plans. After he defeats Adesanya, he said that he will have to defend his middleweight championship against Chimaev or Whittaker, the latter of who will feature in the UFC 308 bout in October. Following that, he intends to fight in the light heavyweight category to achieve his ambition of holding two title belts in different weight classes.

Daniel Cormier Talks about style

Daniel Cormier thinks that Dricus Du has a very weird method of fighting, which will be in his favor in the upcoming fight. He talked about the different angles from which Dricus throws the punches and kicks, and it’s not normal for any other fighter. “The problem with Dricus is that the things he does don’t look like everybody else’s.”

His feet may cross at an odd time, he may throw a punch from a weird angle, or he might weirdly do a takedown, but it’s working. So you have to accept that it’s not wrong just because it looks different—it’s his way, right? It’s his style, and he’s mastered it. He’s mastered it to the point that he’s the world champion. So I think that awkwardness will benefit him on Saturday night.” Daniel Cormier said.
