Dallas Cowboys 3-Time Pro Bowler Returning To Team

Dallas Cowboys sign Ezekiel Elliot

The Dallas Cowboys are entering a new season, just like the rest of the National Football League organizations. Last season, Dallas held a record of 12-5 as they made it to the NFC Wildcard round of the playoffs.

However, their playoff hopes were short-lived as they lost to the Green Bay Packers in a blowout on their home field. The 2024 offseason has been rocky for Dallas as they have come into free agency and has seen stars opt out of training camp.

On Monday morning, Tom Pelissero reported that the Dallas Cowboys are getting their three-time Pro Bowl running back, Ezekiel Elliot, back on the sidelines.

Ezekiel Elliot played for the Cowboys in a recent stint from 2016-2022. He eclipsed 8,262 yards in that span of time. He led the National Football League in rushing yards for two seasons (2016 & 2018) with the organization.

Elliot also ran for over 100 yards in 30 games with Dallas. The duo with quarterback Dak Prescott was a fan favorite in Texas for those seven seasons. The former Patriots RB has not run for over 1,000 yards since 2020.

The three-time Pro Bowler played in New England for the 2023 season. He scored five touchdowns and ran for 642 yards. After Bill Belichick retired from the National Football League, Elliot had to decide to leave.

His new deal will last one year and be worth $3 million. Pending a physical examination, his contract is said to guarantee $2 million.

Ezekiel Elliot will be returning to where he started in his professional career almost nine years ago. Head coach Mike McCarthy will have a former player and veteran back on his roster for 2024 with plenty of experience.

Dallas Cowboys 2024 Offseason

CeeDee Lamb- Cowboys

Dallas has been dealing with off-season woes to start out 2024! One of the biggest storylines has regarded their top wide receiver. CeeDee Lamb had chosen to opt out of training camp.

Until now, he has not been given a contract extension for this season with the Dallas Cowboys. Last year, CeeDee Lamb caught 135 passes for 12 touchdowns.

He got close to gaining almost 2,000 passing yards, coming just shy with 1,749. Along with Ezekiel Elliot rejoining the Dallas Cowboys, their running back position will have three others as backups for depth.

These tailbacks include Rico Dowdle, Deuce Vaughan, and Royce Freeman. With the Dallas Cowboys wanting to reach the playoffs for a second consecutive year, getting Elliot back is a good move.

But, it does not guarantee immediate success.  The Dallas Cowboys have always struggled to win after the regular season. With the 2024 NFL Draft over, it is now time to put teams together for the new season in September!
