Dallas Cowboys Re-Sign Versatile C.J. Goodwin

Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys re-signed special teams star C.J. Goodwin to a one-year contract on Tuesday afternoon. He has done a bit of everything during his tenure with “America’s Team.” He had 9 total tackles and a forced fumble during the 2024-25 regular season. He has spent the last seven years with the Dallas Cowboys. Today’s contract ensures he will remain with the squad for at least one more season. How will this deal work out for both sides?

Dallas Cowboys Offseason Outlook

It has been a busy day for the habitually slow Owner/General Manager Jerry Jones. He usually takes his time signing players to contracts during the offseason. Dallas re-signed Defensive Tackle Osa Odighizuwa to a four-year $80 million contract earlier today. Wide Receiver CeeDee Lamb also restructured his contract creating $20 million in cap space for the Dallas Cowboys a few hours ago.

Quarterback Dak Prescott will also look to have a healthy 2025 season after being limited to 8 games with a hamstring injury he suffered in November 2024. There is also upheaval for the team at the head coaching position as they led Head Coach Mike McCarthy’s contract expire and promoted Offensive Coordinator Brian Schottenheimer to head coach. As a first-time head coach, it is tough to predict how he will fare in his first year under the microscope the Cowboys present.

Final Thoughts

Goodwin returning to Dallas is a savvy move by the franchise. He will provide a veteran presence to a team with many unknowns heading into the offseason and regular season. Goodwin will look to continue contributing to the Cowboys team in many ways.
