Dallas Cowboys 2025 NFL Draft Preview

Cowboys, Ceedee Lamb

The Dallas Cowboys finished 7-10 last season, finishing third in the division. The Cowboys took a step back last season, as they needed more talent on the roster to compete in the NFC East. Dallas added 2 starting players to the offensive line in last year’s draft. Jerry Jones will look to build on that this year, with needs at wide receiver, running back, and cornerback. This year, the team hopes to fill the holes on the roster and continue to compete with the Eagles and Commanders. Here is the 2025 NFL Draft preview for the Dallas Cowboys.

Dallas Cowboys 2025 NFL Draft Picks

The Dallas Cowboys have ten draft picks in the 2025 NFL Draft.

  • Round 1: No. 12
  • Round 2: No. 44
  • Round 3: No. 76
  • Round 5: No. 149
  • Round 5: No. 171 (Compensatory)
  • Round 5: No. 174 (Compensatory)
  • Round 6: No. 204 (from Lions)
  • Round 6. No. 211 (Compensatory)
  • Round 7: No. 239 (from Packers)
  • Round 7: No. 247 (from Chiefs)

The Dallas Cowboys still have many starting spots on their roster open. Last year, they drafted left tackle Tyler Guyton in the first round. Guyton and fellow rookie Cooper Beebee had encouraging first seasons. Dallas is in a great spot to trade back in the first round if owner Jerry Jones wants to make more selections this year.

Team Needs

The Dallas Cowboys have quite a few needs on the offensive side of the ball. Jones must find a second wide receiver behind Ceedee Lamb for Dak Prescott. Running back is another glaring need, with former starter Rico Dowdle leaving in free agency. The Cowboys signed Miles Sanders and Javonte Williams in the offseason. However, both may be past their primes. New Coach Brian Schottenheimer has stressed building the roster through the trenches.

With the departure of Cooper Rush, a backup quarterback is also a need.On the defensive side of the ball, the Cowboys signed new players in free agency to 1-year deals. The pass rush was severely lacking when Micah Parsons was injured last season. They need more depth to play alongside Dante Fowler, who they signed up for free agency. Another huge need is a cornerback after an injury sidelined Travon Diggs.

Mock Draft Analysis

Dallas goes with offense in the first round. McMillan is the type of player they’ve lacked next to Lamb in their offense. He should give Dak Prescott another weapon. Ewers has the chance to develop into a game manager and should make a decent backup. The Cowboys also get a tight end and a guard to help them improve in the trenches.

Gordon is part of a running back class that is very deep this year and has a chance to start for the Cowboys. On defense, the Cowboys use their second-round pick on a replacement for Diggs. Amos had a great season at Ole Miss and will have an opportunity to learn from Diggs and Daron Bland. He is tall for a corner and has a long wingspan. Dallas also adds some bodies on the defensive line.

Final Thoughts

The upcoming season for the Dallas Cowboys looks difficult. They must contend with the reigning Super Bowl champions, and Jayden Daniels figures to be even better. The Giants have also turned over their roster and could be an opponent to watch for in the NFC East. Dallas will have to hit on a lot of talent in the draft to keep up with the Eagles and Commanders next year.
