Penn State AD Claims Texas Gave $5M to Arch Manning
Penn State Athletic Director (AD) Pat Kraft recently claimed that the Texas Longhorns gave $5 million USD to Arch Manning. Read on for further details.
Penn State AD Claims Texas Gave Money To Manning
The Longhorns failed to make the CFP, but the team remains relevant in the never-ending news cycle. However, some headlines surrounding the team have been concerning, such as Kraft’s recent claim that the team gave $5 million to Manning, 21.
In an expletive-filled audio clip, Kraft, 54, can be heard speaking to unknown Penn State players about various topics, including Penn State’s coaching search, other Big Ten teams, and some brief comments about Manning and the Longhorns.
Kraft claimed that the Longhorns gave $5 million to Manning. “My buddy is the guy behind Texas … he put $22 million of his own money into Texas, he gave $5 million to Arch, and they pay 65 guys,” Kraft said in the audio clip.
Kraft has since apologized for the audio clip, but the hot-button debate about Manning will likely continue among the general public. Kraft’s apology didn’t include comments about Manning’s earnings, but college football fans will certainly have questions about this topic.
Manning’s Outlook
Kraft’s recent claim about Manning and the Longhorns makes for one of the wildest college football headlines of the season. The New Orleans native suffered a rocky start at 3-2, but finished the season strong with a 6-1 record, with the lone loss against No. 5 Georgia.
The New Orleans native’s regular season stats include 227-of-370 passing for 2,942 yards, 24 touchdowns, and 7 interceptions, along with 83 carries for 244 yards and 8 rushing scores. He’ll look to add to his stats when No. 13 Texas faces No. 18 Michigan in the Citrus Bowl on New Year’s Eve at 3:00 p.m. Eastern.
Final Thoughts
We may find out Manning’s exact earnings soon. But, until then, Manning played at an impressive level during the second half of the regular season, so any earnings shouldn’t come as a surprise.
