Niagara was no match for Ohio State and fell to 0-7. The Lady Buckeyes defeated Niagara 130-32 on Sunday. They set a new school record for points in a single game as well as the largest margin of victory in program history, in the massacre of Niagara.
For booking purposes, the Ohio State Women’s previous school record for points in a game was 119 vs. Idaho State in 1994. Its previous school record for margin of victory was 70 points, a mark the Lady Buckeyes hit against Akron in 1977 (105-35) and Ohio in 2004 (107-37). However, this game against Niagara broke those records.

Freshman guards Dasha Biriuk, twenty-five points, and Bryn Martin, with twenty-one points led Ohio State’s scoring effort, with sophomore guards Ava Watson, fifteen points and Jaloni Cambridge with fourteen points.

This record-breaking win included some hefty runs by Ohio State. Ohio State had an 18-0 run in the first quarter to build a 26-6 lead after 10 minutes, and allowed only one Niagara basket in the entire second quarter to take a 57-12 lead into halftime.
The Buckeyes then scored the most third-quarter points, 42, in program history to lead 99-21 after thirty minutes of play. The Buckeyes then held the Purple Eagles to just 11 points in the final period, capping off the win on a 22-0 run.
This game, though doubtlessly entertaining for the Lady Buckeyes, was not really a good barometer for them. Winning by so much, with the game not competitive for the entire game, was not much of a test for Ohio State, which has struggled against top competition.

The Lady Buckeyes were not debilitated from their long trip to the Bahamas. They earned their first-ranked win of the year on Wednesday by beating West Virginia in the Baha Mar Pink Flamingo Championship.
With this win over Niagara, the Lady Buckeyes improved to 6-1 this season. Their only loss came at the hands of No. 1 UConn, the best team in the nation. The Lady Buckeyes next play Northwestern on December 7, which is next Sunday, as conference play begins.
