Grambling State Proves No Match For Ohio State in 70-0 Win
Grambling proved no match for mighty Ohio State. The No. 1 team in the nation dispatched Grambling 70-0. Grambling got paid, and their awesome band got to perform in Ohio Stadium, but the football team was a pushover. Ohio State looked very good today; they looked every bit of the number one team in the country. Although viewers cannot tell much in such blowouts. At least Ohio State got to play much of its second, third, and fourth stringers. Do you think Ohio State will win the national championship?
Sayin Sets Accuracy Record
In the game against Grambling, Julian Sayin came out with more precision than anyone ever has, connecting on his first 16 passes to set a new school record for consecutive completions to open a game. Four touchdown passes were included in the barrage, with 290 passing yards in total. Will Howard, the last Ohio State quarterback, had the previous record of 13 consecutive completions against Notre Dame in the 2025 College Football Playoff national championship game.
An interception, Sayin’s first of the season, thrown near the goal line in the second quarter, stopped his consecutive completions streak. He came up one short of tying Ohio State’s consecutive completions record in total, as Kyle McCord connected on 18 straight across two games in 2023. Sayin was removed shortly after halftime in this blowout in favor of backup Quarterback Lincoln Keinholz. Keinholz threw his first career touchdown pass.
Bands Reign Supreme
In the highlight of this blowout victory for the Buckeyes, it was not only Alumni Band Day at Ohio Stadium, but Grambling’s band is good, too. Called the human jukebox, or the best band in the land, the Ohio State Marching Band is rightly called the “Best Damn Band in the Land.” That was easily the most attendees ever that stayed at halftime to watch the bands perform. Alumni Band Day only happens once a year in Ohio Stadium; it was appropriate that the celebration happened when Grambling was in town.
