Georgia Bulldogs Dominate Charlotte 49ers
Another Saturday in Athens, another game that felt more like a dress rehearsal than a main event. The Georgia Bulldogs took care of business against a frankly outmatched Charlotte 49ers squad, cruising to a 35-3 victory. If you were looking for a nail-biter, you probably flipped over to watch paint dry. This was a classic “get in, get out, don’t get hurt” kind of game, and on that front, mission accomplished.
Kirby Smart and his crew did exactly what you’d expect a national title contender to do against a 1-10 team. It was a methodical beatdown, a display of depth that should make other SEC teams nervous. The Bulldogs controlled the clock, the line of scrimmage, and pretty much every other aspect of the game. It was wholly unremarkable, which, in the grand scheme of a long season, is a beautiful thing.
Young Pups Get to Eat
The real story of this game wasn’t the final score, but who was putting the points on the board. With some key starters getting a well-deserved breather, we got a glimpse into the future of the Georgia backfield. Freshman Running Back Bo Walker looked like he was playing a video game on rookie mode, finding the end zone not once, not twice, but three times. Every time the Dawgs got into the red zone, it seemed like No. 22 was getting the call, and he delivered with a grin.
Nate Frazier also joined the touchdown party with two of his own, leading all rushers with 54 yards. It was a ground-and-pound affair that felt like old-school Georgia football.
On the other side of the ball, the defense was, well, the defense. They held Charlotte to a measly 169 total yards and a single field goal. The 49ers went 1-for-11 on third down. It was suffocating, dominant, and exactly what we’ve come to expect.
What’s Next for Georgia? Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate
Let’s be honest, this game was the appetizer. The main course is coming up on a short week. Now, all eyes turn to Atlanta for a Black Friday showdown with rival Georgia Tech. Forget the records, forget the rankings; “Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate” is always a battle. Tech has been scrappy this year, and you know they’d love nothing more than to play spoiler to Georgia’s playoff ambitions.
So, while the win over Charlotte was a nice, tidy piece of business, the real test is just around the corner. The Dawgs handled their tune-up game perfectly, got their young players valuable reps, and came out healthy. Now, it’s time for rivalry week. Buckle up.
