Head Coach for the Colorado Buffaloes is a Rising Concern
The Colorado Buffaloes are already off to a rough start to the season, and it’s only been one game. The Colorado Buffaloes played last Friday in a heartbreaking loss to the Yellow Jackets, 27-20. Coaching was the number one reason why Colorado lost this game.
Coaching is a Rising Concern in Colorado
While the roster had no lack of effort and flashed plenty of promise, several weak points were revealed that Colorado must remedy as the stakes rise. Head Coach Deion Sanders and Offensive Coordinator Pat Shurmur took heat for decision-making in this game. The Big 12 contenders had poor clock management throughout the game and could not seem to pull the trigger on getting the win.
For a second time, the Colorado coach insisted he didn’t do anything wrong. This time, he detailed why he thinks he didn’t make any late clock-management mistakes in a game in which he left two timeouts on the table. No matter what Sanders insists, the Buffaloes still ended up losing the game. Now, Sanders is in the hot seat, and the college football season has only played one game into the season.
Quarterback Situation Is Up In the Air
Sanders is looking into a quarterback change against Delaware. Liberty transfer Kaidon Salter, who has played in 30 career games, currently holds the edge over five-star freshman Julian Lewis. Between the two quarterbacks, Sanders has a decision to make whether or not to play Lewis over Salter. Sanders commented that Salter can throw the ball, and he can run the football, but that doesn’t mean that Lewis is completely out of the picture.
What is clear for the Colorado Buffaloes is that the quarterback situation is up in the air. There are also questions about whether Sanders can manage the game and the game clock this week against Delaware.
Can Colorado Win Its First Game?
The Colorado Buffaloes are coming into this Saturday’s game against Delaware as the favorite and seeking their first win of the season. ESPN’s Football Power Index gives the Buffaloes a 93.5% chance to beat the visiting Blue Hens. Let’s see if the Buffaloes can win at home and get even for the season.
