Colorado Buffaloes Land Brennan Marion As New Offensive Coordinator
The first significant staff change for the Buffaloes has come, as Colorado is hiring Brennan Marion as their new offensive coordinator. With this hire, Deion Sanders welcomes one of the best young offensive minds in all of college football. With Julian Lewis’ career kicking off, Colorado is making a stellar move to help their young quarterback grow.
Buffaloes Hire Marion As New OC
After years of offensive struggles under Pat Shurmur, Colorado is turning to an innovative leader for a fresh start. Marion invented the “Go-Go” offense, a fast-paced, no-huddle approach featuring multiple formations to keep defenses off balance. In 2025, Sacramento State’s offense thrived, averaging 33.8 points per game and scoring 405 points in total.ย
Everywhere he’s coached, Marion transforms offenses. As UNLV’s offensive coordinator in 2024, they averaged 36.2 points per game, and their rushing attack dominated. He also coaches high-level NFL WRs, working with Jordan Addison at Pitt in 2021 and Xavier Worthy at Texas in 2022. Every year, he climbs the ladder, aiming to revamp the Buffaloes’ bottom-tier offense.
Brennan Marion will work with one of the best young Quarterbacks in all of College Football, Julian Lewis. In limited action this season, Lewis impressed despite a lack of talent around him. I expect Deion Sanders and Brennan Marion to aggressively pursue the Transfer Portal and bring in proven offensive talent who can contribute immediately, rather than relying on freshmen who need time to develop.
Marion Will Bring In A Lot Of New Talent
Brennan Marion will bring many new names to compete in the Buffaloes offense in 2026. Many of these could come from their recent recruiting class, the No. 1-ranked FCS recruiting class for 2026. Two top players who could transfer to Boulder are WR Ernest Campbell and RB Damian Henderson II.
The first standout to watch is Ernest Campbell, an incredible athlete with blazing speed who recorded 755 yards on just 37 catches, averaging 20.4 yards per reception last season. Notably, Campbell would be dynamic alongside Julian Lewis; he has already signaled on social media his intention to follow his head coach to Boulder. Campbell’s speed and frame recall bring to mind Jimmy Horn Jr., though Campbell is even faster.
Turning to the backfield, the next name to follow is sophomore running back Damien Henderson, who was Sacramento Stateโs second-highest rusher last season behind Rodney Hammond Jr. While Hammond rushed for more than 1,200 yards on 127 carries, Henderson was behind with 565 yards on just 88 carries. Given the same workload as Hammond, Hendersonโs numbers could impress even more.
Final Thoughts
Looking ahead, staff changes at Colorado are anticipated, including seeing how many of Marion’s team will join him. As Coach Prime aims to repeat his Transfer Portal success from 204 with the Buffaloes, Marionโs presence should make that process much easier.
