WWE NXT will take place on October 1, and the famous CM Punk will also participate in the event. It was already scheduled that Punk would appear on the October 1 NXT episode in Chicago, where the show would be performed live on CW Network. But the question that was asked the most was what Punk would be doing on the show, which shows there was huge potential for unexpected things to happen but had not yet.
On September 17, Punk appeared on the show and said that he had a plan for what he wanted for his character, but he was interrupted by Roxanne Perez. Then, in the later part of the show, Ethan Page and Trick Williams inked the deal for their NXT championship match on the October 1 episode.
CM Punk Announcement
CM Punk then emerged from backstage and said that the match was so important that it required a special referee, and he was ready to be one. He tried to get Page and Williams into action because they already have a growing rivalry. They were seen exchanging punches last week, and the officials faced many difficulties in separating them.
Other than this rivalry, Punk said he asked Shawn Michaels to be involved in the October 1st Chicago show on The CW, and the ‘crazy 1995 version’ of Shawn told Punk he has no rules and can do whatever he wants.
Brawal of Giulia and Perez
CM Punk was talking, but Perez interrupted and began by stating sorry for interrupting them and said that she appreciated the struggles of Punk that he went through and, in reality, she was a fan of Punk when she was much younger. But she quickly changed the tone and regretted that she should have been a fan of Drew McIntyre, the biggest rival of CM Punk. After Perez started to talk about Giulia, she showed up. Now they both were in the ring and Perez tried to attack her from behind, Punk stepped in and stopped her.
Even though no official announcement was made, CM Punk showed up again later during the show’s main event. As soon as Ethan Page and Trick Williams shook hands to finalize their NXT Championship match, Punk said that he would be the special referee for the match. So, when NXT arrives on The CW on October 1 in Chicago, Ethan Page will defend the NXT Championship against Trick Williams, with Punk as the referee.
Final Thoughts
WWE’s experience with Superstars as referees has been different. It means they have been showing favoritism so their favorite competitor can win. The best example was recently the event between CM Punk and Drew McIntyre, where Seth Rollins was scheduled to be a referee.
He showed favoritism toward Punk and wasn’t down for countdown when needed. But we can’t predict that Punk will be the same. We’ll have to watch and see what happens. What are your thoughts about CM Punk being the referee? Feel free to use the comment section to share your thoughts.
