Christian Mbilli demonstrated his superiority in an August 17 fight against Sergiy Derevyanchenko, one that many fans had been waiting for. Having scored three straight knockouts, Mbilli took charge of the fight in the second round with a stiff right.

In his post-fight interview, Mbilli expressed his desire for bigger challenges: “I can fight for a title now. I wish to become a world champion, and to do that, I have to beat the best one. Who is the number one? I want to fight the number one.”
