Fulton entered the NFL as a second-round pick out of LSU in 2020. He spent four seasons with the Tennessee Titans before signing with the Chargers in 2024.

During his lone season in Los Angeles, Fulton recorded 51 tackles, nine pass breakups, and one interception. His performance earned him a multi-year deal with one of the premier teams in the league, the Kansas City Chiefs.

Fulton Adds Depth to Young Chiefs’ Defense

Kansas City’s secondary features several rising stars, including Trent McDuffie and Jaylen Watson. With multiple young defensive backs nearing free agency, Fulton’s signing provides short-term stability.

McDuffie, Watson, and others from the Chiefs’ 2022 draft class could hit the open market in 2026. Fulton’s deal gives Kansas City flexibility as it plans for the future.

What Fulton Brings to Kansas City

The 26-year-old cornerback so far in his career has made a name for himself for his physical play style and versatility at his position. Fulton especially thrives in man coverage and has shown the savviness to be able to pick his spots when it comes to stopping the run as well.

From his time in Tennessee and Los Angeles, Fulton has already been exposed to similar schemes that defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo likes to run in Kansas City. Making the transition from those teams will make the process of joining Kansas City much smoother.

Final Thoughts

On the second day of the NFL Free Agency period, the Chiefs continue to prioritize adding depth to key positions. By adding Fulton to their defensive backroom, they give Spagnuolo another reliable option he can rely on in a secondary that has been one of the strengths of this team in recent seasons.

With Fulton now joining the Chiefs, he will have an opportunity to establish himself in a championship-level organization. While also have the chance to work with one of the most talented cornerbacks in the league in McDuffie. As well as one of the top defensive coordinators in all of the NFL in Spagnuolo. To help this Chiefs defense take that next step and reload for another championship run.
