Chicago White Sox Starting Pitcher Garrett Crochet is off to the best start in franchise history. Crochet’s 16 strikeouts in his first two career starts are the most in franchise history. Crochet is currently tied for second in the league in strikeouts with 16 punchouts.
He had eight strikeouts over seven innings of work in Tuesday night’s win 3-2 against the Atlanta Braves. The Chicago White Sox was one of the few remaining winless teams in Major League Baseball before Tuesday’s matchup. Crochet is 1-1 with a 1.38 ERA in 2024.
Will Crochet be able to build on his stellar start and possibly be Chicago’s ace for years to come?

Crochet made his Major League debut with the Chicago White Sox in 2020 and was exclusively a relief pitcher before this season. He was named the team’s Opening Day starter following the trade of former Cy Young Award winner Dylan Cease in mid-March to the San Diego Padres. Crochet took the loss on Opening Day against the Detroit Tigers after surrendering one earned run over six innings. He added eight strikeouts against Detroit.
Crochet missed the entirety of the 2022 season after undergoing Tommy John Surgery and returned to the diamond in May of 2023.
He has a career record of 4-8 with an ERA of 2.51.
Chicago White Sox 2024 Expectations
It was a rough 2023 on the South Side of Chicago as the team finished with one of the worst records in the league at 61-101. This year is not expected to go much better as the team’s over/under is projected at 61.5. Chicago is relying on a young roster this season as they look to build toward the future.
A few of the notable names still on Chicago’s roster are veteran Third Baseman Yoan Moncada and young Center Fielder Luis Robert Jr.
If Crochet can build upon his hot start and continues to pitch well, he will be a mainstay in the “Windy City” for years to come.
