After months of searching for a contract, outfielder David Peralta landed a minor-league contract with the Chicago Cubs. This is a great opportunity for David to get a pass to Opening Day.
Last season was not the outfielder’s best, with seven home runs and 55 RBIs in 133 games. These numbers lead to offers from minor leagues. However, the Venezuelan player has a plus because this organization needs outstanding outfielders. They also allow him to be a designated hitter.
David who has played with the Tampa Bay Rays, Arizona Diamondbacks, and Dodgers is looking to improve his level. Being with a team like the Chicago Cubs may help him because David occupies several outfield positions.
A great opportunity for both
Neither the Chicago Cubs nor David Peralta had the best season last year. However, David, who is a Silver Slugger and Gold Glove winner, is looking for a team with stability. As a veteran, he can provide the production the team needs in the outfield.
For the Boys in Blue, last season they finished second in the NL Central Division without advancing to the postseason. However, in 2024 they are without their leading outfielder, Cody Bellinger.
So David can fill several of the team’s needs this season.
What is estimated for the Chicago Cubs?
The Chicago Cubs roster is very similar to that of the past, remember that roster has led them to miss the playoffs. But they have a plan to overcome their failure to land coveted agents or elite players. Additionally, experts project this team to make the playoffs. Moreover, their win total is expected to be 83 games. But some places list them as high as being an 85-win ball club! Certainly, they will be a force in the NL Central.
They intend to compete with young players while bringing in veterans. These players have a responsibility to get the Cubs to the postseason. Batting prospects Owen Cassie and Pete Crow-Armstrong and pitchers Cade Horton and Ben Brown.
So the cameras won’t be fixed on particular players, because anyone on the Chicago Cubs team could become the next star.
