The Carolina Hurricanes were on fire on Monday night as they defeated the Chicago Blackhawks 6-3. That was their third consecutive win.
The pairing of Martin Necas and Sebastian Aho each scored a goal and also assisted. That enabled the Hurricanes to triumph. Other goals were scored by Michael Bunting, Jesperi Kotkaniemi, Brent Burns, and Jordan Martinook.
Goalie Spencer Martin, who came on board in January, continued to put on a good performance with 14 saves, thereby recording his third consecutive win. Martin appreciated the opportunity to play with a team of talented players, which increased his confidence.
Bedard Shines, but Chicago Blackhawks Fall Short in 21st Road Loss
Unfortunately, the Blackhawks couldn’t catch a break; it was their 21st straight road loss (0-20-1). Connor Bedard, Nick Foligno, and Tyler Johnson tried hard, but the 4-0 deficit of the Hurricanes was too much. The Blackhawks were defended by a former Hurricane Petr Mrazek. He stopped 36 shots.
It was obvious right from the start that Carolina was a strong force. Necas scored the first goal and added another in the second period. Kotkaniemi and Aho were also part of the four-goal lead before the Blackhawks began their comeback.
Last year’s NHL draft top pick, Bedard, displayed his skills with a goal and two assists, trying to keep the struggling Chicago Blackhawks in the game. Nevertheless, the Hurricanes kept the lead.
Martin’s save was awe-inspiring, according to Brind’Amour. Then the power play, led by Burns and Aho, steadied the nerves. The comeback that Chicago tried was not successful.
Bedard did not let down in his third game, provided he was injured again. Aho, a teammate of Bedard, praised the latter for his speed and tricks, saying that this will be a positive factor for his future.
Chicago Blackhawks may have a bad road record, but Blackhawks exhibited resilience in the second period of the game as their goalkeepers threw in two goals, making the score 3-2. Coach Luke Richardson from Chicago City commented on Bader’s line for showing initiative and the performance of the power play in the third period.
Upcoming Games
Looking at the schedule, the Blackhawks will have the Philadelphia Flyers team as their opponent in the midweek, while the Hurricanes will take on the Florida Panthers on Thursday night. The win over Chicago gives the team from Carolina the needed momentum that will help them win the games that will come their way.
