Caitlin Clark has continued her unbelievable performance since the Paris Olympics ended. The Indiana Fever have won their first two games back winning against the Phoenix Mercury and Seattle Storm.  The Fever have not made the playoffs in seven years and now that Clark has made her appearance known in the WNBA, women’s basketball has exploded.

Clark is in the running for the WNBA’s Rookie of the Year at the end of the season. She leads the WNBA in assists (8.3 per game) and total points created (1,012) via points and assists. The Fever are already at as many wins from a season ago now and are tied for the fourth-most victories in the league since the start of July and into August.

On Sunday against the Seattle Storm, Caitlin Clark set the record for most assists by a first-year player, surpassing Ticha Penicheiro. Clark also had the most 3-point attempts in a single game with 19 dimes against the Dallas Wings before the Olympic break. Diana Taurasi has even spoken about Clark, saying, “It’s amazing what Caitlin’s been able to do in her short career so far, it’s just been nothing short of remarkable.”

Clark has been sensational since being drafted into the WNBA this year. She has made an impact not only for the Indiana Fever but for the WNBA as well. She has impacted women’s basketball with her unreal skill set. She has one of the best 3-point percentages in the league. She is 32.8 percent from 3-point range per game. She averages 17.8 PPG, 8.3 assists, and has a 41.2 FG percentage. The Fever are third in the Eastern Conference and are trying to get on a run to the playoffs. The Fever are on a two-game winning streak. They hope to keep the momentum for their third straight win on Saturday against the Minnesota Lynx.

Final Thoughts

Caitlin Clark might be the WNBA’s best rookie guard of all time. She is having a sensational rookie season. Not only is Clark impacting the WNBA, but so is Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese. Both players are making WNBA history and are up for the Rookie of the Year Award.

Clark also made the WNBA’s All-Star team this year and beat the WNBA’s U.S. National Team. There was controversy that Clark should have made the U.S. team for the Olympics. Clark said she welcomed the break from basketball and hopes to make the team next Olympics. The Fever are 13-15 and are gaining confidence in this second half of the season. They want to end a seven-year playoff-less drought.
