Buffalo Bills Re-Sign Versatile Running Back To 2-Year Deal

Buffalo Bills Ty Johnson

The Buffalo Bills have been very active in free agency. They have re-signed some key players that have helped them dominate the AFC East for the last few years. The team wants to dominate more than their division; they want to take the AFC crown. Kansas City has been a thorn in their side for the past half-decade, but the Bills are determined to take them down in 2025. They re-signed versatile running back Ty Johnson to a two-year deal to shore up their backfield depth.

Buffalo Bills Re-Sign RB Ty Johnson

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports that the Buffalo Bills are bringing back Ty Johnson on a two-year deal. Johnson was a sixth-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions. After spending some time with the New York Jets, he has spent the past two years in Buffalo, carving out a role in the offense. While James Cook is the featured back, Johnson brings versatility, especially on third down.

In two seasons, he has rushed for 345 yards and one touchdown while adding 32 receptions, 346 receiving yards, and four touchdowns. His stats aren’t earth-shattering, but every team needs a solid third-down receiving back to make a man miss and pick up a critical first down.

2025 Outlook

The Buffalo Bills should have a pretty easy path to the division crown. While the Miami Dolphins have a ton of talent on offense, they have some questions on the offensive line and the defense. The New England Patriots and New York Jets are in the midst of rebuilds and will likely be inconsistent in 2025. Josh Allen is the best player in that division and should lead this team to another division title.

From there, the Bills want to take the conference. While they have beaten the Chiefs in the regular season, they have fallen short in the playoffs. Kansas City has their own questions after their Super Bowl loss, and Buffalo hopes to catch them on a down year. Can Buffalo finally break through and end the Super Bowl drought?
