Tony Pollard rose to prominence with the Dallas Cowboys as the change of pace running back behind Ezekiel Elliott. Since then, Zeke moved on, and Pollard became the lead back for the Cowboys. In his five years in the NFL, Tony Pollard ran for 3,621 yards and 23 touchdowns to go with 176 receptions for 1,318 yards and five more touchdowns. Arguably, his best season came in 2022 alongside Elliot, when he ran for 1,007 yards and 12 total touchdowns in 16 games.
Now, Tony Pollard is leaving Dallas and heading to Nashville to join the Tennessee Titans. It is reported the Titans will give the former Cowboy a 3-year deal worth $24 million.
What This Means for the Tennessee Titans

Tennessee is losing the face of the franchise in running back Derrick Henry, so they needed a legitimate, established NFL replacement. In 2023, the Titans drafted Tyjae Spears out of Tulane, but he is probably suited best to be a complementary back. In addition, Spears has documented knee issues that could hinder his ability to be a lead running back in the NFL.
With the Tony Pollard agreement, Tennessee has solidified its RB room. They have also taken some pressure off Quarterback Will Levis. He is a tough runner, who runs with some violence and aggression. Thus, he is a match for what the Titans want. Pollard has been a tremendous receiving back and will be heavily relied upon to give Levis a viable check-down option.
