Boston Celtics Take Commanding 2-0 Lead In NBA Finals

Boston Celtics Win

The Boston Celtics won Game 2 of the NBA Finals. Game 2 was much closer than Game 1, coming down to the very last minute. However, with great defense and offense, the Boston Celtics came out on top. The surprise of the night was Jrue Holiday, who had 26 points and 11 rebounds. He stepped up and was in the right place at the right time, not only scoring easy points but also grabbing necessary offensive rebounds for the team.

At the end of the day, the Celtics won this game through team basketball, with over four players scoring more than 18 points. Now, let’s take a look at what happened in each quarter.

Boston Celtics Lost The First Quarter

The Dallas Mavericks took an early lead in the first quarter. They played great defense, and the Boston Celtics also played poorly. For context, the Celtics shot 36% from the field and 11% from three-point range. Furthermore, they only scored 7 of their 25 points from set offenses. The rest of the points came from free throws and fastbreaks.

In contrast, the Mavericks shot 44% from the field and 52% from three-point range. They had their biggest lead of the game at 7 points. However, the Boston Celtics managed to take advantage of the Mavericks’ dwindling offense. The quarter ended with a three-point game, with the Mavericks winning the quarter 28 to 25.

Boston Took The Lead In The Second Quarter

The Boston Celtics increased their shooting percentage to 47% and their three-point shooting percentage to 20%. In contrast, the Dallas Mavericks increased their shooting percentage to 48%, but their three-point percentage dropped to 30%.

The second quarter ended with the Celtics up 54 to 51. The second quarter and first half were all about the free throws. Dallas finished the half shooting 5/11 from the free-throw line. In contrast, the Celtics finished the half with a perfect 13/13 from the free-throw line.

The Dallas Mavericks attempted a comeback in the fourth quarter. While they managed to go on an 8-0 run and get the game within 5 points in the last minute, the Boston Celtics’ defense proved too much for the short-on-time Mavericks.

The game ended with a score of 105 to 98. Now the series will move to the Dallas Mavericks homecourt for game three. To stay updated with more of the NBA Finals, stay tuned to our NBA page.
