Brooklyn Nets Forward Bojan Bogdanovic will undergo season-ending foot surgery, sources told ESPN on Wednesday. Bogdanovic, 32, previously played a brief stint with the New York Knicks from February to July 2024. He underwent season-ending left foot and wrist surgeries and missed most of the 2023-24 NBA Playoffs. He and Alec Burks were traded to the Knicks for Ryan Arcidiacono, Malachi Flynn, Evan Fournier, Quentin Grimes, and two second-round picks.
Bojan Bogdanovic’s Surgery
On Wednesday, ESPN’s Shams Charania took to X, formerly Twitter, to break the news surrounding Bojan Bogdanovic. Charania wrote, “Brooklyn Nets forward Bojan Bogdanovic will undergo season-ending foot surgery, sources tell ESPN. Bogdanovic last played on April 28, 2024, for the Knicks before having an initial surgery on his left foot.”
Charania’s post on X attracted attention from the NBA world. One user promoted a Justice for Bojan Bogdanovic School Walkout on May 1st at noon, while another said that trading injured players shouldn’t be a thing. Regardless of one’s views regarding Bogdanovic, Bogdanovic’s season-ending foot injury isn’t a laughing matter. He will be out for the remainder of the 2024-25 NBA season amid the Brooklyn Nets’ offensive struggles, despite decent defensive efficiency.
Bogdanovic’s Stats
Bojan Bogdanovic’s season-ending foot injury and surgery can ruin the Brooklyn Nets’ buyout chances. The New York Post confirmed that Bogdanovic will not appear for the Nets all season and likely won’t be a buyout candidate. He suffered a left foot injury during Game 4 of the New York’s series win over the Philadelphia 76ers. He had already been suffering from a left wrist injury and underwent surgery to repair both.
Bogdanovic’s most recent stats go back to the 2023-24 NBA season. Bogdanovic averaged 15.2 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game while shooting 45.5% from the field and 39.8% from downtown. He averaged 6.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.0 assists per game while shooting 29.2% from the field and 40.0% from downtown in the 2023-2024 postseason.
For his NBA career, Bogdanovic averaged 15.6 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game while shooting 46.0% from the field and 39.4% from downtown. The Miami Heat selected him with the 31st overall pick in the second round of the 2011 NBA Draft. He was born and raised in Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Yugoslavia, where he played for Zrinjski Mostar before playing for Real Madrid and Real Madrid B.
Brooklyn Nets’ Moves
According to SNY, the Brooklyn Nets waived Bojan Bogdanovic, who is set to undergo season-ending foot surgery and hasn’t played since last season. They also signed Point Guard Killian Hayes to a 10-day deal and guard Tyrese Martin to a standard NBA contract. Hayes, 23, has been playing for the Nets’ G League affiliate, the Long Island Nets, since 2024. Martin, 25, has been on a two-way deal. Bogdanovic is set for unrestricted free agency after this season.
