With the amount of departures the Ravens have had so far this offseason, this was a good value signing.
Baltimore brings back their veteran slot cornerback, who they signed last season. The 30-year-old corner brought depth to the position but was a valuable contributor, especially as a blitzer.
Pending a physical, Maulet signed a two-year extension according to NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe, with the contract breakdown not finalized. The underrated signing paid off, as he set the tone for the Ravens and will provide experience to the position.
Baltimore Ravens Re-Sign Arthur Maulet
Arthur Maulet had a career year last season, specifically as a role player as a nickel defender. Starting three games but playing in 14, the six-year player had one interception and five pass deflections. But as a blitzer, Maulet had two sacks, three quarterback hits, and five tackles for loss.
The 5’9″ and 190-pound corner was an undrafted rookie free agent for the New Orleans Saints in 2017. He had stints with the Indianapolis Colts and New York Jets from 2018 to 2020. Maulet was in Pittsburgh from 2021 to 2022 before joining the Ravens.
Having a reliable third cornerback on the roster is key, as Baltimore will look to add a rookie or two early in the draft. Entering his seventh year in the league, Maulet will play alongside Marlon Humphrey and Brandon Stephens. With star Kyle Hamilton also playing in the slot and as a box safety, retaining Maulet gives the Ravens more versatility with their secondary.
This re-signing boosts the defense after their losses in free agency. Patrick Queen and Geno Stone signed with division rivals. The linebacker signs with the Steelers while the safety signs with the Cincinnati Bengals.
