Baltimore Ravens Extend Key Player Until 2026 Season On Eve Of Important NFL Draft

The Baltimore Ravens signed Wide Receiver Rashod Bateman to a contract extension on Wednesday.

The Baltimore Ravens signed Wide Receiver Rashod Bateman to a contract extension on Wednesday afternoon that ties him to the team through the 2026 NFL season. Before agreeing to a contract extension today, Bateman was entering the final year of his rookie contract. Bateman solidifies a wide receiver position the Baltimore Ravens are reportedly still looking to add to in tomorrow’s NFL Draft.

Bateman had 32 receptions, 367 receiving yards, and one receiving touchdown last season for the Ravens. How will Bateman fare this season for a Ravens team that will have high expectations?

Rashod Bateman Career Summary

Bateman was drafted No. 27 0verall by the Baltimore Ravens out of the University of Minnesota. He missed the majority of the 2022 season following foot surgery and had a disappointing 2023 season. He was the sixth-leading receiver on the team last season in terms of catches.

Bateman has 93 receptions and four receiving touchdowns over his three-year NFL career.

Baltimore Ravens Bring A Loaded Offense Into 2024

The Ravens went 13-4 last season and were the No. 1 seed in the AFC Playoffs. They would go on and lose at home in the AFC Championship Game against the Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs. Quarterback Lamar Jackson won his second MVP Award last season and led the fourth-highest scoring offense last season averaging 28.4 points per game. Baltimore also had the best rushing attack in the league last year at over 156 yards per game.

Baltimore added to their strength this NFL Offseason by signing All-Pro Running Back Derrick Henry. Henry signed a two-year contract with the team. The Henry move signifies the Baltimore Ravens will continue to go all-in to surround Jackson with the best skill position players. Bateman joins a receiving corps that includes Tight End Mark Andrews, Tight End Isaiah Likely, and Wide Receiver Zay Flowers coming off a standout rookie campaign.

There will be no shortage of offensive weapons in the “Charm City” in 2024.

Ravens Defense Takes Massive Step Back This Offseason

The Baltimore Ravens defense lost many key pieces to what was one of the best units in all of football last season. Baltimore allowed the sixth-fewest yards per game at just over 300 and allowed the fewest points per game at 16.5. Just a few of the defensive losses the Ravens will have to weather heading into next season are Linebacker Patrick Queen, Linebacker Jadeveon Clowney, and Safety Geno Stone.

Arguably the biggest loss for the team this offseason was losing Defensive Coordinator Mike Macdonald, who was named Seattle Seahawks Head Coach earlier this NFL Offseason.

The Baltimore Ravens should be one of the NFL’s best teams again next season, but the defense will need to keep up with a high-powered offensive attack.
