Atlanta Braves Sign Former World Series Champion To Minor League Deal

Atlanta Braves

The Atlanta Braves announced earlier today the signing of Right Fielder Eddie Rosario to a minor league deal. This is a homecoming for Rosario as he won the 2021 World Series as a member of the Atlanta Braves. Rosario was released from the Washington Nationals earlier this week after a rough season in the “Nation’s Capital.” He was hitting .183 with seven home runs and 26 RBI.

Rosario will report to the Braves AAA affiliate in Gwinnett, with the hope he can return to the big leagues soon with greater success than he had with the Nationals. How will Rosario fare in the second half of the 2024 regular season?

Eddie Rosario Career Summary

Rosario made his MLB debut in 2015 with the Minnesota Twins. He finished sixth in Rookie of the Year voting that season. Carlos Correa won the award that season. Rosario spent the first six seasons of his career in Minnesota before playing for the Cleveland Guardians and Atlanta Braves in 2021. He was a crucial part of the Braves World Series team in 2021. He was named the NLCS MVP.

Against the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 2021 NCS, he hit a whopping .560 with three home runs and nine RBI.  Rosario signed a one-year $2 million deal this offseason with the Washington Nationals. Rosario is a career .264 with 166 home runs and 574 RBI.

If Rosario can impress in AAA, he will look to fill the sizable hole left by reigning NL MVP Ronald Acuna Jr. who tore his ACL on May 26.

He is tied for seventh in the league in 21 home runs and is fourth in the league with 67 RBI.

The pitching staff of the Atlanta Braves has been the far stronger part of their team this season. They are third in batting average, fifth in strikeouts, eighth in opposing batting average, and seventh in WHIP. Their pitching staff is led by former CY Young Award winner Chris Sale. He is 11-3 this season with an ERA OF 2.71. He is tied for the league lead in wins, seventh in ERA, fourth in strikeouts, and is leading the league in WHIP. Braves Upcoming Schedule

Atlanta begins a three-game series at home tonight against the best team in baseball, the Philadelphia Phillies. The Atlanta Braves are 2-1 this season against their division foes. Eddie Rosario will look to be an asset to the Braves over the second half of the regular season and during what all sides hope is a deep run in the MLB Playoffs. If Rosario can find his form from years past, he will have another successful stint as a member of the Atlanta Braves.

The Braves are seeking their seventh straight trip to the MLB Playoffs as they have been one of the most consistent clubs in the league.
