India B and India D faced each other in the third-round Duleep Trophy 2024. And in the second innings, Arshdeep Singh was brilliant with the ball. Though Ricky Bhui and Sanju Samson produced hundreds to lay the groundwork for India B’s 257-run triumph, Arshdeep took six wickets. Although Arshdeep Singh, a left-arm pacer, was not included in the Indian lineups for the two matches against Bangladesh.
Still, he was a notable performer for his team in their 257-run triumph over India D at the Rural Development Trust Stadium B in Anantapur. Despite being considered a probable for the series against the Bangla Tigers, Arshdeep Singh was beaten for a slot by another left-arm speedster, Yash Dayal. His two games over four innings in which he only claimed four wickets did not help him either, nor did his performances in the first two rounds.
Arshdeep Singh’s Stunning Bowling
Arshdeep Singh, an Indian bowler, bowled an amazing 6/40 as his team, India D, crushed India B by 258 runs on Sunday to complete their Duleep Trophy campaign with a consolation victory. Additionally, Arshdeep Singh registered his best-ever match stats of 9/90 and removed Suryakumar Yadav, the captain of India in Twenty20 international cricket, in both innings.
The Indian B team’s response fell short of the D team’s. Despite a century from Abhimanyu Easwaran, India B only scored 282 runs in their opening essay. Washington Sundar scored some important runs later in the order with a strike rate of 87 off 140 balls. Saurabh Kumar, a left-arm spinner, took a fifer during the whole inning.
Bhui scored a century in the second innings, smashing 119 runs from 124 balls to go along with his fifty-wicket total. Captain Shreyas Iyer also scored a fiery fifty, smashing fifty off of forty deliveries. Samson scored fifty-five runs in the second innings to assist Arshdeep Singh’s team achieve 305 after scoring a century in the first. This gave the B team a target of 373 runs, which was eventually more than sufficient.
India D’s Competitive Spirit
India B could not win the competition, but India D‘s success opened their account in the third over; when he tore apart the opposition’s batting lineup, the quickster showed that he had accepted his lot in life. After getting out three of the first seven batters, they reentered the game to clean up the tail. India D had an uphill battle ahead of them, with 373 runs required in the fourth innings after they were bowled out for 115 runs. Sanju Samson and Ricky Bhui had set the tone with their bats, but Arshdeep Singh was the most impressive player with the ball.
Bhui made fifty runs in the first over, but Samson struck quickly, scoring 106 off just 101 balls. Devdutt Padikkal and Srikar Bharat each hit fifty-two runs as India D amassed 349 in the first innings. Navdeep Saini was brilliant with the ball as he picked up a fifer championship round. India C would have had a chance to win the title if they had lost their match against India A, and the team captained by Abhimanyu Easwaran had defeated the team captained by Shreyas Iyer. But that was not the case.
Bottom Line
India B defeated India D by 257 runs in the third round of the Duleep Trophy 2024, owing in major part to century-scoring efforts by Ricky Bhui and Sanju Samson. Despite not being picked in India’s team for the Bangladesh series, Arshdeep Singh proved his worth by dismissing top batsmen such as Suryakumar Yadav in both innings. India D fought hard, with big contributions from Bhui and Samson, but India B’s outstanding all-around performance was too much to overcome.
