Rickshaw Run 2025: The Wildest, Most Dangerous Adventure Across India & Beyond
Picture it: you, a “glorified lawnmower” on three wheels, and thousands of miles of chaos, where you have never been. Welcome to the Rickshaw Run 2025: The Wildest, Most Dangerous Adventure Across India & Beyond, where the only thing more unreliable than your vehicle is your sense of direction. This isn’t just an adventure, it’s a full-blown assault on your sanity, your spine, and your ability to make good life choices.
A Brief History Of Madness
The Rickshaw Run was born in 2006 when a man named Tom (his position with The Adventurist is Chief Idiot) decided that driving a rickshaw across India was a brilliant idea. Spoiler: it wasn’t. But that didn’t stop him. The first run saw participants wobble from Kochi to Darjeeling, and somehow, it worked. Since then, over 35 editions have turned this harebrained scheme into a global phenomenon. Thousands of people have embraced the chaos, proving that humanity’s appetite for stupidity knows no bounds.
What Even Is a Rickshaw?
Ah, the rickshaw. A 198cc, 10.5-horsepower beast of engineering mediocrity. It’s slow, it’s loud, and it breaks down more often than your Wi-Fi. With a top speed of just over 34 mph (downhill, with a tailwind), it’s the perfect vehicle for navigating India’s pothole-ridden roads. Think of it as a cross between a scooter and a milk float, but less reliable. And yes, it will tip over if you so much as sneeze while turning.
The Rickshaw Run 2025 Edition: Dates and Destinations
- India (September 4 – 19, 2025)
- The current run is in full swing, with teams navigating the madness from Kochi to Jaisalmer. Expect breakdowns, questionable navigation, and a lot of stories that start with, “You won’t believe what happened…”
- South India (November 9 – 14, 2025)
- For £1,995, you’ll get to experience the joy of breaking down in the middle of nowhere while locals laugh at your expense. Pre-adventure beers on November 8 are included, because you’ll need them.
- South India (October 12 – 17, 2025)
- A shorter, but no less ridiculous, route. This edition is already sold out, but don’t worry, there’s always the November run to look forward to.
- India (January 31 – April 17, 2026)
- Start in Kochi, end in Jaisalmer. That’s 3,000 km of pure, unadulterated mayhem. Entry fee? A cool £2,395 per team. What do you get? A rickshaw, a vague sense of direction, and a lifetime of questionable memories.
The Teams: A Motley Crew Of Misfits
The Rickshaw Run attracts a special kind of person. Teams like “Bombay Bellends,” “Tuk Fast,” and “The Vindalosers” are just a few of the legends gracing this year’s lineup. These are people who looked at a rickshaw and thought, “Yes, this is how I want to spend my vacation.” Check out the current list of participants and find out where they are on their Rickshaw Run adventure.
Why Do It?
Because life is short, and you haven’t truly lived until you’ve been stranded in the middle of India with nothing but a roll of duct tape and a questionable sense of humor. The Rickshaw Run isn’t about winning; it’s about surviving. It’s about getting lost, breaking down, and coming out the other side with stories that no one will believe. What other reasons do you and your friends need to join the Rickshaw Run?!
