Pakistan Star’s Vision for 2025 Champions Trophy Without India

The BCCI did suggest a plan wherein India could play its matches in the United Arab Emirates or Sri Lanka, but nothing has been agreed on just yet. Hasan Ali reminds everyone of how many Indian players have also expressed interest in coming to play in Pakistan. He shared his thoughts in an interview with a Pakistani news channel, Samaa TV.

Hasan Ali said that many Indian players have said in interviews that they want to play in Pakistan. So, it doesn’t mean that the team doesn’t want to come; they do. He further added that Indian players must think of their country’s policies and their cricket board’s decisions. Despite these issues, Hasan Ali made it clear that the championship would go ahead in Pakistan. Hasan Ali believes the Champions Trophy will go on, even if India decides not to come.

He has confidently said that Pakistan is all prepared to host the Champions Trophy without the involvement of India in case of a need. Hasan Ali further added that, according to the PCB chairman, if Pakistan is hosting the Champions Trophy, it will only be played in Pakistan. If India doesn’t want to come, we will play without them. He also said that if India doesn’t come, that doesn’t mean cricket has ended. This shows how much Pakistan was invested in hosting the tournament. The latter is keen to ensure the event happens smoothly, no matter what India decides. It is not the first time that such an issue has arisen between India and Pakistan.

In 2023, India played all their games in Sri Lanka, despite Pakistan being the host of the Asia Cup. But later that year, Pakistan went to India for the 2023 Cricket World Cup. The last time the men in blue visited Pakistan was way back in 2008 for the Asia Cup. That was also the last big event that was hosted by Pakistan. Given the ongoing tension between the two cricket boards, it has been impossible to determine whether India will participate in the Champions Trophy in 2025.

This is further complicated by the history between India and Pakistan in cricket. In an ICC tournament during the 2017 Champions Trophy final, which was won by Pakistan, these two teams faced each other. And Hasan Ali was hailed as the player of the tournament. Of course, that reveals his worth for such games. It seems obvious players wish to play in Pakistan, but political and administrative problems get in the way.
