Michigan Wolverines Flip 4-Star Safety, Son Of NFL Legend From Notre Dame

Michigan Wolverines land Nate Marshall, Ivan Taylor, Phillip Wright, Andrew Marsh

The Michigan Wolverines are not having any trouble landing top-tier talent after Jim Harbaugh left. Sherrone Moore has shown his ability to bring in talent, and over the weekend, he teased more big commitments. The Wolverines have had great defensive backs in the past few years, and that tradition is likely to continue. Four-star safety Ivan Taylor, son of NFL legend Ike Taylor, has flipped to Michigan after being committed to Notre Dame.

The Michigan Wolverines were predicted to flip Ivan Taylor over the weekend. All of the inside knowledge pointed to Taylor committing to wear the maize and blue. The young safety had this to say after his visit to Ann Arbor.

“Me, my mom and my dad really liked (Moore). We like what he’s doing and how he’s building the program and the types of guys he brings in. It was a great conversation. We talked about how I felt and how things are going to go pushing forward about the situation.”

He is the son of former Pittsburgh Steelers safety Ike Taylor, who won two Super Bowls in the NFL. It says something that he was impressed with Moore and his program. 247’s composite rankings have Taylor ranked 54th overall in the country in the 2025 cycle. He is the second top-100 safety to commit to the program, with Kainoa Winston already in the fold. The Michigan Wolverines could have an elite secondary for years to come.

A Huge Win For Sherrone Moore

Sherrone Moore is starting to flex his recruiting muscles. Taylor is the 14th member of the 2025 recruiting class, which is peppered with four-star players. The Michigan Wolverines have been able to take this kind of talent and coach them up to an elite level. When Jim Harbaugh left, many wondered whether Michigan would start to lose out on recruits. It seems the opposite is happening. They are now flipping players from top-tier programs.

Not only is this a massive win for the Wolverines, but it hurts the Fighting Irish, who they will be competing with for a spot in the College Football Playoff. Moore and his team are just getting started. If they can continue to land players like Ivan Taylor, the program could sustain success for many years to come.
