The Gareth Southgate 2024 Euros Provisional Squad

The 30-man-long squad by Gareth Southgate has a diverse list of players, mostly established in their respective soccer clubs while some are emerging talents. This showcases the manager’s strategy of continuity while keeping abreast with the development of the game.

Let us take a look at the 30 names on the list.

Goalkeepers

Jordan Pickford (Everton), has had a wonderful season at the club level helping his team avoid relegation and amassing the second-most clean shits in the EPL. He is expected to be the number one goalkeeper during the tournament.

Aaron Ramsdale (Arsenal), Although he has fallen down the pecking order at the club level. We cannot deny that he is talented in the post and he is a strong backup. Dean Henderson (Crystal Palace) & James Trafford (Burnley) are the third and fourth-choice English goalkeepers for the Euro 2024

Defenders

The defensive lineup of Gareth Southgate’s team features experienced names the likes of Harry Maguire (Manchester United), who has seen a resurgence in his career after earlier bumpy seasons.  John Stones (Manchester City), has been phenomenal and he deservingly won the EPL and still is in the FA Cup final. Big Name Omissions

One of the shocking news that has left football fans perplexed is Gareth Southgate’s omission of household names in this current list. On top of the list is Manchester United forward Rashford pays the price for his inconsistent form at the club level, Chelsea left-back Ben Chilwell has also lost the privilege of representing his country, and Rahim Sterlin the Chelsea forward will also fail to represent his country for the first time since the year 2012.

As the tournament kicks off on the 14th of June fans will be eagerly waiting to see how their country will represent them on the field. I am rest assured that this squad is capable of fighting and winning this trophy. Will they manage to bring it home? What are your thoughts?
