Houston Texans Wide Receiver Looking Better Than Ever 3 Weeks After Gunshot Wound

Houston Texans wideout Tank Dell’s trainer recently posted videos of Dell running routes and looking as quick as ever after suffering a gunshot wound in Florida only three weeks ago. Dell was one of ten injured in a mass shooting at a club in Sanford, FL.

Dell was shot in the leg, with the bullet passing through and luckily missing any bones or major blood vessels. For him to be back on his feet and running routes just three weeks later is astonishing. Some even commented on Twitter that he looked faster now than he did before his injury.

On April 27, Dell was shot in the leg in the midst of a gun battle between two suspects on the pool deck of Cabana Live, a club in Sanford, FL.  Dell and nine others sustained injuries, with no fatalities reported. Dell had been invited to the event by promoters and had no connection to the shooters.

Video shows that Dell was briefly caught in the crossfire when the shooting began. There was security on site checking patrons for weapons and no firearms were allowed at the event, however, it would appear that at least two people got guns through security. One 16-year-old male has been arrested and charged with multiple counts of attempted murder, while another suspect remains at large.

In the video posted by his trainer on Instagram, the Houston Texans receiver can be seen running a long post route and zooming down the sideline before making an overhead catch.  Fans were amazed by his speedy recovery, with one saying, “Is it just me or does he look even faster?”, and another commenting, “Dude is about to pull a Brian Robinson and go the heck off after being shot.”

Dell will be a big part of one of the best receiver rooms in the league, joining Nico Collins and new hire Stefon Diggs, who was signed away from Buffalo in the offseason. Diggs’ star power and amazing playmaking ability will certainly bring more energy and confidence to an already solid receiver squad.

Houston Texans Poised for Another Big Season

The Houston Texans went 10-7 in 2023, making NFL history twice by being the first team to ever make the playoffs with a rookie QB and a rookie head coach, and the first to win their division outright with a rookie quarterback and head coach. They blew out Cleveland in the Wild Card round before losing to the Ravens in the Divisional Round. A win would have put the Texans in their first Conference Championship in franchise history.

2024 is expected to be another strong year for the Houston Texans, with analysts predicting a 10-7 record and another AFC South title. With Tank Dell, Stefon Diggs, and Nico Collins running routes, scoring opportunities should be plentiful. The Houston Texans also heavily invested in their defense both in the offseason and the draft, picking up multiple defensive linemen, linebackers, and secondary players.

With last year’s offensive Rookie of the Year, C.J. Stroud, at quarterback and one of the best receiver corps in the NFL, the Houston Texans are full steam ahead for 2024.  As Dell has proven in the last few weeks, it’s hard to stop a Tank.
