Elite Cole Palmer Wins The Premier League Young Player Of The Year Award 23/24

Cole Palmer for Chelsea

Cole Palmer has been a Premier League sensation since he broke into the fold at Manchester City under Pep Guardiola. After a few seasons playing on the fringes, the youngster began agitating to leave the club.

Chelsea acquired the services of the then 21-year-old for an estimated £40 million on the deadline day of the summer transfer window after a failed saga, hunting for the services of Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise.

Since then, Cole Palmer has gone on to be the club’s highest goal scorer in all competitions and a big game player. He has broken records set by club legends like Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba.

What Everyone Is Saying About Cole Palmer

The list of nominees for the Hublot Young Player of the Year award included former Manchester City teammates, Phil Foden and Erling Haaland, Manchester United breakout youngster Kobbie Mainoo, Arsenal stars, Bukayo Saka and William Saliba, and Newcastle striker, Alexander Isak.

Cole Palmer stood out this season because of his prolific goal-scoring, his impact on the Chelsea team, and how stunned his ability has made everyone. When asked about Cole Palmer, West Ham United striker Michail Antonio said:

“He has had an unbelievable season. Everyone was like: ‘What on earth are Chelsea doing splashing £40 million on someone who isn’t even proven in the Premier League? He’s proved you don’t need to be proven.”

This season, Palmer has been directly involved in the most number of Premier League goals, scoring 22 goals and providing 10 assists in 33 Premier League games. The 22-year-old is also the first Chelsea player to ever win the Young Player of the Season award.

Rio Ferdinand, a Manchester United and Premier League legend, said:

“Yeah, I think he has to be the signing of the season. I think if you look at the numbers this kid has put up, he’s a young boy as well… Cole Palmer seems like the kid who will go anywhere in the world, in the biggest stadiums in the world, and it will feel to him like he’s just going down Goals in his local area with his mates.”

How Well Did He Start For Chelsea?

Cole Palmer’s first Chelsea goal was a 50th-minute penalty against Burnley in a 4-1 away win. In the first-leg tie against Arsenal at Stamford Bridge, he again scored a 15th-minute penalty.

In the game with Tottenham at the Tottenham stadium, he opened the scoring for the second time with his third Premier League penalty for Chelsea. He scored the injury-time equalizer in a 4-4 rollercoaster match against his former team in Stamford Bridge with his fourth penalty for Chelsea.

His first goal from open play came as an equalizer against Manchester United at Old Trafford. Ten days later, he had a hand in the two goals Chelsea scored against Sheffield United, scoring one and assisting one.

Against Luton on the 30th of December, in the last Chelsea game of the year, he scored twice, providing an assist, to return to his most prolific Premier League season, with eight goals in 17 games. Cole Palmer Has Had An Award-Winning Season

December was a prolific month for the young Englishman. His four goals and two assists earned him a Premier League Player of the Month, while his second goal against Luton earned a nomination for the Premier League Goal of the Month award.

On the 29th of February, Cole Palmer won the Men’s Young Player of the Year award at the 2024 London Football Awards. In April, he earned another Premier League Player of the Month nomination for March.

Cole Palmer went on to hit his first hat-trick against Everton in a 6-0 win at Stamford Bridge. He had scored four goals in the game. This had followed a hat-trick against Manchester United which had come two games prior, including a winning goal in the 101th minute of the game.

The four goals against Everton took him to 20 Premier League goals of the season, level with Erling Haaland. This made him only the third player in Chelsea’s history to score up to 20 goals in a debut season. The other two were Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink and Diego Costa in the 2000–01 and 2014–15 seasons.

In May, Cole Palmer received four awards to sum up his phenomenal season: the Chelsea Player of the Season, the Chelsea Players’ Player of the Season, and the Premier League Player and Goal of the Month awards for April. He also received the Young Player of the Year nomination in May.
