Jesse the Body Ventura Negotiating Big New WWE Contract

Jesse the Body Ventura

When I was a little kid, I had one of those cool, buff, plastic wrestling toys — one in particular was Jesse the Body Ventura. He had his right arm out, flexing the bicep. Some of his paint had peeled off.  There were no retractable arms or anything, though. I mean, he wasn’t Optimus Prime for crying out loud!

Nevertheless, he was my toy.

I grew up listening to him commentate for the WWE (back then, it was called the WWF) along with Mean Gene Okerlund, and I was never happier; my eyes peeled to the TV. So you can make a pretty good guess of my reaction when I heard the legendary Jesse the Body Ventura was basically going back home to the squared circle!

Well…. Jesse the Body Ventura Is SORT OF Going Back to WWE. Let Me Explain.

I mean, come on: the guy’s in his 70s, man! Dude’s not going to be lacing up his boots anytime soon. But still… On Frank Morano’s podcast, he was a guest, bringing up the subject and how he was in talks with WWE to seal a special Legends deal.

The deal, as far as I would gather based on what Jesse the Body Ventura, former Minnesota governor, said on the podcast, was that he was “back negotiating with them.”

“We’re in talks right now. I have contracts with my attorney right now with the WWE.”

But imagine my elation.

What Is This Legends Deal We’re Talking About, Though?

The story goes that he would make some special appearances in all sorts of documentaries. But what really gets my blood flowing is that this may mean he will even appear live at events.

Hell. Yeah. Not to be all Stone Cold Steve Austin, but I repeat —

Hell. Yeah.

And we’re getting to be seeing the golden age disappear; it makes me sad. So this couldn’t have come any sooner.

Jesse the Body Ventura Falls in Line With Plenty of Classic Greats of Pro Wrestling

Wrestlers like:

  • Hulk Hogan
  • Rowdy Roddy Piper
  • Paul Orndorff
  • Andre the Giant
  • Big John Studd
  • Junkyard Dog
  • Hillbilly Jim

However, you may notice that a lot on the list are pretty much gone — Piper, Orndorff, Andre, Big John, and Junkyard Dog are all buried in remembrance of their great legacies.

And Jesse the Body Ventura was frank and open about all of that, knowing he’s part of a small pool of greats who definitely deserve to be called…. Legends.

“I’m getting older. I’m in my 70s now. I just want to open up the door at the end of the wrestling career and see what’s still left there. And it ain’t like I’m going to go back on the mic, because, I’ll be honest with you, I don’t even know who wrestles there anymore.”

Oh, Come on, Ventura. You Still Got the Chops. Get on the Mic!

You can’t blame him, though, as he’s been so far removed from the wrestling organization that it’s been since 1990 that he ever had a chat with Vince McMahon. Ever since the allegations of the once illustrious chairman exploded onto the scene and Paul “Triple H” Levesque took over for a new era, that shift was essentially what prompted a new contract to make its way for the “Body.”

Maybe — we can only hope — Jesse the Body Ventura will once again flaunt the feather boa and extravagance the way he did. Willing to bet he’d make Seth Rollins blush.
